| It was removed from the criteria in September/October, so you can safely go into administration now and not get kicked out or penalised on future applications. It was a pure coincidence that this was shortly followed by a club going into admin. The same club that was being run by RFL employees for most of the season. Of course they didn't know that administration was coming. Also the setting up of the new company W Crusaders Ltd at Companies House on the 20th October was also coincidental. Can we have FIFA running our game please

At a recent Metrolink Construction Consultation, the following map was displayed, with a Trafford Centre / Port Salford line proposed subject to funding and approval.
Credit JDR @ Skyscrapercity Forums www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost. ... count=1175
A long way off, but positive. How useful it could be for existing fans I'm not so sure but if it happens, it will increase the catchment area greatly, and having the stop named Salford Reds would make our club visible to many more Salfordians and Mancunians than at present.
From what I've read of the message board linked above, the line very much depends on Peel's commitment to funding its construction. Not such a bad idea for them though, as it would mean they'd have MediaCity, Trafford Centre, Port Salford, and our new Stadium and associated retail on the network.
On a seperate note, I guess there has been a halt in progress on-site recently during the cold weather?

Dont forget Peel are looking to sell off the Trafford Centre to the Yanks.
www.reuters.com/article/idUSLDE6BC09L20101213
If that happens then i think any hope of a line being built goes up in smoke.
The council should have insisted on a tramlink being built as part of the terms of the original trafford centres constuction. The fact they didnt do this, has meant Peel have been able to deliver empty promises on such a matter year after year.

John Wittaker who already has share's in Csc will soon be the majority shareholder of Capital shopping centres the group who will own the trafford centre in the near future, in theory he's building an even greater empire than he already has. Even when the TC is sold it will make no difference to peels plans for the future.

| A metrolink Tram stop is on the phase 1 masterplan for the stadium , adjacent to the main Car Park.
My understanding of the planned extension of the Metrolink was Peel were willing to fund a majority share of the development from Cornbrook to the Trafford Centre , but GMPTE / & Mcr council didn't accept due to worries about the potential impact on City Centre Manchester Trade.

Is it? At all the planning meetings I've been to there has been no mention of the Metro.

As Redleague says, the sale of the Trafford Centre and the way it's worked in with CSC means that Peel are certainly not washing their hands of any involvement with the TC area, they have EventCity along side, and the Port to follow. I'd hope that EventCity alone would encourage the metrolink investment as it's unusual these days to have a major exhibition facility these days that not got good public transport access.

| just drove past today and it looks like its coming on reaily well considering the weather, it looked to be they are ready to pour the concreate in and create the base, not going to happen until it walms up a bit as ive been told concrete wont set unless its over 5 degrease and you need a good week so its solid or it just cracks??.
So better be safe than sorry and rush it i say, surpose they'll just dig the rest of it up for the roads n stuff till it walms up in the new year?.

Mixing the concrete with hot water is an option for cold weather pouring.
Its not exactly 'thrilling' reading:

Yes you can theoretically do that but i don't think Buckingham's are going to hire 100's of people with burco boilers ready to mix cement do you? the stadium base will be laid by industrial concrete mixing lorries and silo's all with cold water,
although was going through some of my suppliers today and found these guys? wonder if Buckingham's could use a product to the same spec as this?

| Pouring concrete ? I know it depends on the land to some degree but surely a stadium would require land Piling before any sort of concrete was simply poured ?
Salford City Council (building inspector) insisted after planning permission was granted my extention be piled before building could take place, I had to have eleven piles installed at an additional 25% add on to the original price of my build.

Im sure the piling has already been done? I went past a few week ago and saw numurous concrete squares plotted about where the stadium will be situated.
Those concrete squares will be going a fare few foot under the ground and will act as giant stilts to make sure the stadium doesn't sink or collapse.
