| starbug, you are one boring repetative man that I don't think I've seen one positive post on any thread
anyway back to the stadium, drove over last night. Couldn't really see much just some cabins but it was dark, was just wondering if anybody had more of an update?

| Quote ="DirkDiggler"Leeds - have redeveloped headingly to a standard required by the RFL and the RFL wont tell Leeds what to do
Hull KR - just secured funds to redevelop the stadium
Hull - new stadium
Warrinton - new stadium
Huddersfield - new stadium
Wigan - new stadium
Salford - new stadium plans
Saints - new stadium plans
Bradford - new stadium plans
Cass - new stadium plans
Wakefield - new stadium plans
The below 3 dont matter as they can do what they want with the full backing of the RFL;
Crusaders
Quinns
Catalan
The fact is we couldnt redevelope the Willows to the "required" standard, Im almost certain this was looked at and with the limited space and surrounding area plus cost just wasnt feasible.
Whether all the above planned builds happen is another matter, I would just like to see ours built and us playing in it, as was previously said its what we're getting, but has the provision for expansion.'"
Catalan DO matter and are doing their bit to respect the requirements of the RFL - witness the new west stand curently under construction on the Catalan Dragons board forum under 'stadium redevelopment' so do some groundwork before putting the boot in - can't say about Quins or Crusaders tho'.

Dirkdiggler was correct , Catalans dont matter when it comes to stadia , that is not their purpose in the grand scheme of things
It is irrelivant if they play at a 5,000 capacity dump or a 50,000 super stadium , their purpose is to improve the French national team , unfortunatly it isn't as simple as that , although long term it should happen

Catalans DO matter in the whole scheme of things, especially in france of course but to the RFLs great vision of expansionism
do you prefer the amenities of a decent stadium or some of the present dross which is still somehow allowed to charge hard-earned cash to watch a minor sport ? Does it matter that Odsal is improved or not ? by all accounts it's not changed much since the 70s & 80s when I was last in the stadium !
what is their purpose in the grand scale of things by the way ?

My understanding of the original comment was not that Catalans do not matter as a club, but that in terms of Super League Licenses and stadiums, Catalans, Crusaders and Harlequins are not under the same pressures as heartland clubs to upgrade stadiums or get kicked out, so that those three clubs do not matter in a stadium debate.

not at all shirty mon ami, just pointing out that the Cats are doing their best to improve conditions for Joe Public despite their own financial problems so maybe they should be applauded
As a Saints fan I know which stadium I prefer to watch a match if it's ever been a choice between Knowlsley & Brutus

| It was removed from the criteria in September/October, so you can safely go into administration now and not get kicked out or penalised on future applications. It was a pure coincidence that this was shortly followed by a club going into admin. The same club that was being run by RFL employees for most of the season. Of course they didn't know that administration was coming. Also the setting up of the new company W Crusaders Ltd at Companies House on the 20th October was also coincidental. Can we have FIFA running our game please

At a recent Metrolink Construction Consultation, the following map was displayed, with a Trafford Centre / Port Salford line proposed subject to funding and approval.
Credit JDR @ Skyscrapercity Forums www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost. ... count=1175
A long way off, but positive. How useful it could be for existing fans I'm not so sure but if it happens, it will increase the catchment area greatly, and having the stop named Salford Reds would make our club visible to many more Salfordians and Mancunians than at present.
From what I've read of the message board linked above, the line very much depends on Peel's commitment to funding its construction. Not such a bad idea for them though, as it would mean they'd have MediaCity, Trafford Centre, Port Salford, and our new Stadium and associated retail on the network.
On a seperate note, I guess there has been a halt in progress on-site recently during the cold weather?

Dont forget Peel are looking to sell off the Trafford Centre to the Yanks.
www.reuters.com/article/idUSLDE6BC09L20101213
If that happens then i think any hope of a line being built goes up in smoke.
The council should have insisted on a tramlink being built as part of the terms of the original trafford centres constuction. The fact they didnt do this, has meant Peel have been able to deliver empty promises on such a matter year after year.

John Wittaker who already has share's in Csc will soon be the majority shareholder of Capital shopping centres the group who will own the trafford centre in the near future, in theory he's building an even greater empire than he already has. Even when the TC is sold it will make no difference to peels plans for the future.

| A metrolink Tram stop is on the phase 1 masterplan for the stadium , adjacent to the main Car Park.
My understanding of the planned extension of the Metrolink was Peel were willing to fund a majority share of the development from Cornbrook to the Trafford Centre , but GMPTE / & Mcr council didn't accept due to worries about the potential impact on City Centre Manchester Trade.

Is it? At all the planning meetings I've been to there has been no mention of the Metro.

As Redleague says, the sale of the Trafford Centre and the way it's worked in with CSC means that Peel are certainly not washing their hands of any involvement with the TC area, they have EventCity along side, and the Port to follow. I'd hope that EventCity alone would encourage the metrolink investment as it's unusual these days to have a major exhibition facility these days that not got good public transport access.
