| Getting back on topic, drove past yesterday lunchtime and there was some serious work going on with what looked like new earth being moved. Think the more you see being done the less and less the detractors will be.
Think we all have to settle for a more run of the mill stadium than was planned but times have changed even in the past 2 or 3 years since the final decision was made, I know what I would prefer an old outdated ground like the Willows or some place warm and welcoming that befits the more family friendly image we are looking for.

| Quote ="theredshed"In responce to a couple of earlier posts about filling in the quads (Corners) in the future. My understanding of the design is the stadium corners on the opposite side to the new main stand will be wrapped around with seating.(filled in)
I thought I should just mention it because it seems many people are really disappointed and under the impression it will be a box job like Warrington's, Leigh's and Widnes's stadiums with all open corners.
I suppose it would be fantastic to have all corners developed from day one but two corners are better than none!'"
Going off the drawings that I have seen you are correct in that the corners opposite to the main stand do appear to be wrapped around (filled in)

| Any chance of the club setting up a webcam at the build site so we can watch any progress? I wouldn't think the cost would be too much of an issue.

This was Halifax's first "build site" webcam.

| I do not understand where our money is going to come from to get to the max salary cap. All I have read states that the loans for the stadium will be repaid by various income streams including ticket sales this indicates we will be worse off than we are now, does anyone know how we are planning to fund our max salary cap?

I would think that the club will be looking toward an increase in bums on seats and sponsership streams will help, though I doubt it will be a case of the first year in the new ground we suddenly have 1.85 million to play with and start the season with top name imports and significant home based signings more a gradual build up of both and then a hopeful foundation of success as Warrington look like they are busy compiling as we speak.

| But the 'bums' on seats come from ticket sales which are going to pay off the loans?

the old "speculate to accumulate" comes to mind, the new stadium will bring some through the gates but the club are going to have to spend a little to attract some big names, for example as mentioned on another thread a while ago Jonah Lomu, who else is/will be available at the end of the season from the NRL? They need to be top names ex-Kangaroos probably as hull did with Fitzgibbon and OMelea.

| just reading the advertiser...apparently the Council are trying to get 'as many amateur or professional clubs to play there as possible to ensure all year usage'
It worries me this, I mean Amateur clubs? surely there should be an element of professionalism about it. I dont want that taken the wrong way.....but I mean..we need the pitch to be good standard.....and it to be a 'priviledge' to play at the staidum. I know WE are not in charge etc etc...but the way the council are talking....they'd probably let me use it to walk my dog on it, the way their going.
Another interesting point it made, if theres more tenants, we pay less tenancy costs..........which again worries me. Cos we pay nothing at the willows, yet here we'll be renting....so we'll be worse off. They take a cut from tickets, advertising etc etc . Also, what happens if we fall out with the staidum owners....we could be homeless like oldham/swinton were/are.
Anyone thinking we'd have ANY say in this stadium....ie naming bars/stands/or even having Salford Reds 'branding' around it, get thinking again. this is definately NOT salfords stadium......this is The councils/peels stadium....which their (for a fee) renting to us. I know this is the only way the club could go, but when people say....we'll build up slowly like warringotn....i cant see this....cos Im sure they own theres....not rent....so they will have MUCH more money
Now I have ranted on here...and Im sorry if I sound negative...I dont mean to be....but I just cant help but worry about this.

| I hope it all works out for Salford. I think it would be great if you got regular sell outs at the new stadium. I just hope to high heaven that Sale Leaches don't come in and do to you what they did to Stockport County. I know you don't like them but i'd let Swinton in, and maybe F.C. United?

| I'd be happy to share with Swinton. If it's a community stadium, they deserve a share.

I understood that Salford City Reds were building their own stadium, and would on it. I am now seeing conflicting information .
Thanks.

| What's Peel? Forgive my ignorance. Salford must have some sort of share in it after all the work they've done.

| i guess the amateur clubs will use a training pitch to play their games as if they use the stadium itself they will have to staff it.

Peel - are Peel Holdings, the lot that own The Trafford Centre, Liverpool Airport, Barton Airfield (aka City Airport Manchester!) and many other commercial proprty developments!

Salford City Reds in effect (Via Red City Developments) were going to until late 2008, but now it will be a JV as mentioned above.
