The facts remain, McRae took us down with about 12 games left in his first season, we thought we had brought in a first class coach but he decided he would change nothing! I show passion & commitment by attending home & away, I expect the coaching staff to do the same, not too much to ask for, I say he has once again written this season off, like he did when he first came to the club, no thought about those fans who continually support the club.

Remember if we don't sort this mess out quickly with our dwindling support all this could be academic, There is an ever dwindling band of hardcore & looking at some of the comments on here even some of our supports think we are stupid going to watch our team.
We seem to think we are safe because of the new ground, lose more support then we might lose a bit more than we bargained for?
Next season is so important those of you who think McRae is the right man, I hope you are right!

Trying (really hard!) to find a silver lining, it just occured to me that perhaps us keeping McRae longer than his performance justifies has saved the club some money (not having to pay him off, not having to spend time/money on recruiting another coach) and that the money saved has been used to recruit a much stronger squad next year?!?

Therefore McRae is the reason we have a much stronger squad next year??!!?!

Im new to scarlet turkey even though ive been following salford at the willows for many years as i know many of the loyal fans have.

I would just like to congratulate Shaun McRae for making a laughing stock of the club we know as Salford reds.

Shaun McRae has been at Salford for three years now. How could any self respecting coach of any league club justify what hes hasnt been able to do over the time of his contract i suspect if it was any other club in sport never mind rugby league he would have had his p45 in the post long ago. Brian noble make a team in 6 weeks and i dont think McRae has the insight or passion to be able to muster up anything from the players. To me it seems like Shaun McRae has taken the club backward to a point where salford would be lucky to finish second from bottom. Salfords defensive record says it all the most points scored against in any season in super league by any team. We do have some good players at salford and some good youths coming through but his man management skills are none existant.We have some good new signings for next season but you have to ask yourself are they using salford as a steping stone to bigger things or using salford as a swansong before retirement. (richie myler springs to mind) But with McRae lack of skills how good would they be after there contract is up even if McRae has just one season left as coach how will his negativity with is tactics (loosly used) come across to the players coming in could be the same as hes done to so many.

Its time McRae hung up his boots and let a new generation take over with passion for the club. ( AND NOT MILWARD HES THE SAME ILK AS MCRAE)

Not arguing with the second part but not fully convinced by the first part either??

Its a results based business and on that fact alone he should go.
Over the years he has got rid of the older players and brought in ones he has wanted.
The team we have now apart from a few exceptions has been built by McRae.
There are some excellent players in there who for some reason or other are not playing to their potential.
We have the odd win which builds us up and then it is back to the old percentage rugby which bores the pants of us all.
He once was a good coach but that was in the old days.
Times have moved on and so should he.

Who do people think should take over from this clown?! Darryl Powell seems to have done an awesome job at Featherstone for me I would like to see a young British coach preferrably. Iestyn Harris is a bright up and coming young boss. The Rhino has done a tremendous job at Batley. He got the sack after a few poor performances but nowhere near as bad as this waste of space. Lets face it though, he is still going to be in charge this time next year!! Hopefully he will prove us all wrong but I very, very much doubt it!!

i have nowt against Harrison but we always remember the past as better than it was: "He got the sack after a few poor performances" is simply not true. He got us to the top of the table then we won nothing for half one season and continued in such poor form for the next season until he was sacked. It was 12 months with little to applaud but that we had done so well before then.

Maybe he's worth a second chance in SL but he is not the Messiah ([size=50or a naughty boy[/size)

harrison had a 5 year plan and for most of it he managed to organise both the club and the team. His downfall was the lack of adaptablility. After our surprise 5th he failed to adapt the team or tactics to keep others guessing, he either didn't have the staff around him to help or decided he was boss.

I have no idea what McRae is trying to do and he is too fond of trying to confuse people by saying much but saying nothing...

Of the British coaches available we would have to look at a no2 who wants to move on, the only one who looks anywhere near ready is the Wigan guy.

And by common consent "he lost the changing room" - does player power rule at Salford?

A lot of people think Mcrae should go, I am one of them,
but he is not going to walk away,so he needs to be sacked,
Mr Wilkinson is not going to do it,the question is why,
1 he thinks he is doing a great job. or
2 he does not have the money

I think it does at every club when the players lose confidence in their coach. The players were supposed to have done it with Harrison if the rumours are true. Now it's happened to McRae.

Perhaps the deeper problem is more due to the players we have than the coach.

Personally I'd have preferred all the old guard to go including Alker. Then see what happens next year with a full team of McRae's buys.

I seem to remember Mr Wilkinson always holding back when it comes to spending money i have lost count of the number of players that have said to be coming to salford and gone to another club because of a better pay packet (pre salary cap).

I can not honestly see anyone thinking Shaun McRae is doing a good job at salford and and hes looked like a one trick pony for so long. Whats wrong with Alker taking over for next season hes bound to be worth a try and if the roumours are correct hes retiring so why not the way i see it what have we got to lose he cant do any worse than McRae.

And if McRae takes his head out of his a*** and takes heed or takes time out of his busy sky super league shedule and read the coments so many have put on this forum he would walk away now and keep a tiny bit of integrety but i cant see it happening.

Mr Wilkinson has always been known as a nice man in rugby league dose anyone else think he should show some ruthlessness and give McRae his marching orders.

As we all know McRae will be at the helm next season unfortunatly but why oh why doesnt he just become a figure head (a sort of ambasador for salford like bryan robson at man united) for the last season of his contract and let somone fresh someone with new ideas and played the game in this generation such as Alker as ive mentioned or even Alan hunte.

Salford franchise is hanging by a balance and i suspect the only thing thats keeping us in with a shout of one is that super league would like a mancunian team in there. But how long do you think super league will hold out a franchise for salford if we carry on being the medeocre team we have been this season. I know its not all McRae the squad has a responcibilty but McRae is the coach the buck stops with him.

Thanks K.O.T.S. I hadnt read it till just now but i see Mr Sims says that Alker is a Potential future Salford coach.

Maybe he just needs a chance but to be perfectly honest hes a home grown lad and i cant see him being any worse than McRae so Give the lad a chance.
