| Quote ="redhope"I may be in the minority on here in thinking that whilst HH is a solid player the fact he plays for Wigan with their players around him makes him look better than he actually is. With the likes of Will Hope, Jordan Davies coming through with better training/coaching and plus what we already have do we need to putting so much moola into a 2nd row ?
Next year ( 2015 )we need to be looking at backs (Meli retiring) Hooker ( who is No 2 hooker to Lee ?) Front row (Morley) Losse forward (do we have a genuine LF for 2014 ?) to name a few.
Whichever is the answer the future looks devilishly bright
a long long long way from 12 mths ago !'"
I disagree with you there, IMO Davies and Hope are nowhere near ready for regular first team games and would be surprised if they got more than a few a year, H is a massive player for Wigan I only have to ask the lads who I work with ( wiganers ) they say he does all the hard graft that nobody likes doing, he hurts players in tackles and he's got a decent go forward too, he's not a flair player like Tomkins but he's a massive part of who Wigan are, and IMO he'll be our best signing of 2014, the fact that Wigan fans are going mad about him going speaks volumes, normally they slag off out going players.

| It would be a tremendous signing and it sends the right signal to local lads.
BTW I think Howarth/Theo will be reserve hookers, unlikely to be any new signing for that position

| ... last year our best hope signing was Ryan McGoldrick , now we're casting doubt on whether Hansen will improve our squad, lets remember where we were on the 18th of Dec 2012...

Sounds like Clubb will get a shot in the pack for Wigan.

| No, to date it is Rangi Chase. Why do you guys post on this forum to try and imply we have lost a player to "little Salford" but hey we have signed a better one.

| Lot of chips on shoulders here lads. Looks to me like the guy above was just bigging up Hansen, not saying Clubb is better. Because that would be mental.

I don't see anything wrong with a post giving an opinion - seems fair enough to me when the player has just been part of a double winning side and like Tomkins, seems to be leaving/left.
Interesting that despite the turnover of youth in the Wigan production line they may play someone developed in London. It seems Lenagan doesn't allow the grass to grow under his feet.
Having been at London he knows the score.Wigan have a strong link in South Wales and are ensuring they have contacts/development in [url=http://www.wiganwarriors.com/WContent.aspx?id=8628&type=1Cumbria[/url
Still the benchmark.

| Clubb and Farrell are both good players but both a little on the small side.
I think IF we get HH it would be a good signing, it just doesn't make a great deal of sense to me too be strengthening an area we are already well covered in. I can only think that maybe HH or Tasi will be the #13 of choice next season.

| I'd put Dixon at 13, though I can see Jordan Davies with another year of two of experience slotting right into that position.

| HH isn't a 13.
He will be a very good signing for you. Just a personal opinion but I think Nobby sees him as a captain of the team once Moz retires.
Excellent work rate and will only go off when he's nothing left to give. Leaves it all on the field.
Wigan have Farrell and no doubt Clubb will go to right side 2nd row. I thought Clubb played right side for London be it centre or 2nd row. He will go with Clubb over Hughes, Burke and Hopkins as being 26 has plenty SL experience which the other lads haven't.
HH is a good player and a good age, I'm sure will see his career out with you.

| That pack is starting to look quite formidable, I really can't predict what our first seventeen, or even the starting thirteen, will be. My best guess would be something like:
Morley
Lee
Tasi
Hock
Hansen
Then maybe Puletua or McPherson
With the possibility of a Rapira, Griffin, Emmett, the Walne brothers, Dixon and Ashurst on the bench.
The back line would appear slightly more straight forward, with: Mullaney, Williams, Gleeson, Sau and Meli.
I know highlight reels don't always tell the truth, but Tasi could give us some massive impact in the collision next year. I'd love to see us go out and really hurt the opposition early doors, 1st game of the season just can't come quick enough.

| Will he? Won't he? Harrison would be a cracking signing, but I'm more than happy with the current squad. Let's learn to walk before we can run. We finished bottom last season and nearly went bust! Compare that to the squad we have now. Lets not get ahead of our selves.

Id imagine they'd have to give him the 11 shirt just incase a deal didn't go through. I'm happy with what we have this year, Hansen would be a huge bonus.

| Noble might try Hock at 13.
Big, powerful, pacy with great handling skills and very hard hitting in the tackle.
McPherson could go 2nd row with Hansen.

That isn't a bad shout actually? Didn't even cross my mind before, Gaz is a brilliant off loader of the ball a skill that is definitely needed at loose forward.

| Who did Noble play at #13 when he used to be at Bradford?
If you had say Shannon Mc and Tasi in the second row with Hock at 13 you've got the makings of a seriously big set of forwards with the front rowers we have. Will be nice to hopefully watch a Salford pack on the front foot for a change.

Both better known for being big lumps than ball playing forwards, wouldn't bother me so much if we did go all out for brute force and ignorance in the pack, I can see that if this is the case that Theo maybe as inter change hooker might be able to exploit opposition tiredness.

Hock is an hard running uncompromising 2nd row , still one of the world's best , I would doubt loose / Lock would be Nobles 1st choice position for him .
Steve Rapira started the majority of games for North Queensland Cowboys at Lock
NZ Warriors bulked him up in an effort to use him as an interchange Prop/ 2nd row.
Out of the confirmed new signings he looks the most likely to occupy the 13 berth. .
Then Andrew Dixon from the retained players.
whether the Doctor manages to pry Hansen away from the DW , it's still a pretty exciting 2014

I can recall Noble playing hock at loose forward during their time together at Wigan, granted it was only to cover for an injured O'Loughlin. Since Hock might not be as mobile anymore, neither the coach or player may see this as a good idea.
