| Quote ="Jaymc9"i've just been reading the statement released on the club website and it says 'The business case for the development shows loans being repaid by the sale of the developed land to retail tenants and with income from people and clubs using the facility, including ticket sales, car parking, advertising, and conference and banqueting venue hire.' =#FF0000:10hhdvz5 If this is so, how are we going to make any income to be able to spend more on the salary cap?[/
You aren't , your income will reduce as things currently stand , You will lose advertising , food , beer and potentially a chunk of your corporate sales , it all depends on how many fans you can entice through the gates , and as I said earlier who is willing to pay to play there as well , no council will run a stadium on 17/18 matches a year , I'd guess either Sale , FC united or both , possibly UTD reserves
Best of luck , you will need it

| so by the sound of it if we dont get more fans through the gate in the new stadium we'll be in a worse financial position than we are in now? I persume we dont pay rent at the willows? Like many have said, i cant see just us playing there.

Not everybody gets 'the Leigh treatment'. Corporate sales and sponsorship don't just have the potential to disappear, they also have the potential to dwarf our current figures.
Will someone else play there? Let's hope so, might keep costs down.

no, sold to another board member so still in the family, unlike Wigan, Huddersfield, Catalans, Crusaders who pay rent for the use of the grounds.

Be interesting to see how that is being accounted for, whether a rent is in fact being charged, but treated as a director's loan? I would have thought that if the purchaser, whether a director or not, had actually paid out cash to purchase the ground, then they would at least want a return on that?

| Don't want to rain on your parade but if you check with the planning dept you will learn that the Outline Planning application has not yet even gone to committee, so Outline Planning approval has not been granted, despite what others might say.

I think you are getting your wires crossed between outline planning and full planning consent. Outline planning for a stadium on the Barton site was granted ages ago.
See following link on BBC website: - news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/engl ... 560140.stm
It's my understanding that the detailed planning application will be submitted over the next few weeks to allow the building work to start in September. The detailed planning application can only be submitted once the full stadium specification has been agreed between the club and the developers. In the meantime I believe the land remediation is due to start soon and will take about 6 months to complete.

Not confused at all.
You are absolutely correct about the stages and sequencing of gaining planning approval but ...........the outline approval granted previously was on an application submitted in 2003 and has long since lapsed. Although I am sure they will be passed eventually the new, and current, plans have not yet been before the planning committee and are listed as 'pending consideration'. This can be verified by looking on Salford City Council's Planning Dept web-site.
The only thing that has been 'approved' so far is the setting up of a Joint Venture Company.

If this is the case I can't see it being anything other than a formality Chippo. The council know the deadlines and I can't see the council planning commitee knocking back their own planning application? They have at least 6 months before building starts which is more than enough time to get everything rubber stamped!
I did notice that you appear to be affiliated with the Widnes club, is all this wishful thinking? in the hope that if Salford don't build then Widnes will be nailed on for a franchise?
I like Widnes as a club and sympothised when Celtic got in SL but it seems you are now looking for a potential problem with the new stadium that doesn't exist.

| The outline planning was extended recently, because the club and Peel understand how these things work.
Suggest you find someone else to pin hopes of gaining a licence from. Maybe Wakefield?

| Absolutely nothing to do with any connection with Widnes.
I would also imagine their licence application will be based on their strengths, not the weaknesses of others.
This information was gleaned in research for my next book - which will cover the licensing process in general and how it affects clubs. Similar information has come to light about other clubs - Wakey & Cas included - and no doubt others when I get round to it. I merely commented on Salford as it is, geographically, my local club and have many friends who support them.
But facts are facts and there is no outline planning consent at the moment.

Well with your research so far being all wrong I wouldn't bother with the book, unless you are writing a work of fiction, as Red willow states the outline planning permission was extended last year, a little more work ( I know this is a swearword in your region) and perhaps you will come up with real facts, such as when was the first episode of Neighbours Broadcast in the UK or the first episode of Coronation Street broadcast. Now go back to your own site and take your little bedtime stories with you, unless you can answer my little posers.

| Judging by your Licence jibes you must be very nervous, particularly as I didn't even bring the subject up! By the way in answering a pathetic 'regional' comment I should point out that Widnes is not in Merseyside as one of you seem to be suggesting with your 'work' comment, and that I have worked all of my life and live in Manchester anyway.
The information I posted was purely that - information - based on facts which are at odds with what is being said by the council and the club, and not a childish attempt at point-scoring. What would be the point, it is neither you nor I that will determine the outcome of the next Licence applications. But you can ask questions of your elected representatives.
As I said before the truth is in the public domain. Just check planning reference 58253 or speak to the relevant Case Officer as I have done. Then you will discover whose research is "all wrong" and who is dealing in fiction.
I am sure it will be a fine stadium when it is built, but I mistakenly thought that you would collectively like to know that the progress and timescales are not what is being said publicly. But, hey, if (some of) you would rather deal in sniping the world is your oyster.

| To be fair building the thing will be the greatest achievement when you go though all the stuff that has gone wrong with it from day one.
Id be surprised if they chucked us out, they saved us once and we have brought to the table what we promised us in a new stadium / new stadium physically there being built, with a sound business plan, no crazy spending, no massive debts and development in our off field areas and a team full of promising english players, we've kept the RFL and superleague informed at every step of the way we have done all we can to play fair and open with everyone who needs to know in the deciton making process.
If Superleague / RFL want to pull the rug from under our feet and change the rules then there is nothing we can do about it
Wakey and Cas shud be looking over their shoulders more than us imo, both need a new stadium, both i dont think are anywhere near where we are (might be wrong?) Both "live" within spitting distance of each other.

Both are miles better than us on the pitch. Both have bigger crowds. Sadly it is not all down to just getting a new stadium.
