It seems like a small uneven valley (if that makes sense) with vegetation still present, about 75yds by 40yds.
Has it been left for drainage or something similar ?
Apologies for being a numpty if it's actually quite obvious why it's there

[url=http://iclipseweb.salford.gov.uk/AnitePublicDocs/07524889.pdfUpdated landscape Masterplan June 10[/url
Hi Jim,
have a butchers at the updated landscape masterplan on page 1 . careful it's a 10mb document.
I'm guessing the bit you refer to is Quote EXISTING REGENERATING BROADLEAF WOODLAND'" called Salteye Brook. It's basically a drainage culvert that would,ve fed into the old path of the Irwell which is being left ' on purpose ' as an environmental corridor , when matured it will also prove useful in blotting out both White Reclamations Yard and the Nimbies estate from the Stadium , and appease all the tree huggers.
There's also a partially culverted drainage channel running from the south east into the brook , which will have to be fully culverted and covered , the Stadium will sit to the South and the Retail part & Retail Car park to the North of the this channel . if you want in inside & out of this there is a 42 page Flood report published on 28th July on Page 5 of the planning site application docs.
Altold there's about 112 documents relating to the revised planning application now if anyones got time to plough through them all, worth a look now and again as you always find something unexpected like the wording " [iPotential future crossing to Metrolink Stop[/i".

OK an explanation for BBC Three viewers . .
We're planning to build our new stadium between a scrap yard and two sewerage works , on the spoil heap thrown up by the naavies when they built the Ship Canal that was then used as a rubbish tip . Our winger may well disappear into a hole in the ground near the West Stand if we don't get the drainage right , and there's a 48% chance it will be under water within the next 50 years due as it's part of the Irwell valley flood plain under risk from global warming .. Sleep tight

| Drove past this morning and it looks like they are in the final stages as they are now leveling and smoothing the top surface.
Does anyone know the date when the chosen contractors are announced?, think that is the next important date.

Think the tendering process is down to the final two bidders and the preferred bidder will know sometime in the next two weeks, then it's all systems go

| Could there be any implications on the local funding provided for your community stadium under the CSR?
On the whole our stadium is privately funded as part of a wider business development, with the local council giving a land donation of around $2,000,000 for both us and Cas.
Hope all is well and those no good Tories don't hinder your plans!

The public money that's been "given" to the scheme (NWDA contaminated land remediation funds) has now been spent - so hopefully we'll be fine.

| Oh that's good.
I was under the impression that the ground was a joint venture from Peel and your local council, I thought your council gave a donation of several million pounds??
Anyway's as I said all the best for the future.

| Site pics from driving (we'll being a passenger) over Barton Bridge yesterday. I think the smooth area to the top end of the site is what MR is talking about further up the thread and is the approx area of the stadium.
Plenty of work going on again this morning as I drove over.

| The leveling off process seems to be all that's left to do now as they are really cracking on with it.
Do they have to leave it fallow for a certain amount of time before anything else can happen???

| Hi Cas fan here.
I know Salford got full planning approval in August but The plans had to be formally approved by The Secretary of State.
Have you had that yet?

| It was just a formality as the project had been called in initially, & the original plans had changed in some area's, so it is all sorted now, hence building starts within the next 2/3 weeks.

I'm pretty sure you'll find your answer if you search through the last few pages of this thread. Besides doing that, I'm sure Iain or Middleman will answer your question when they get chance.

| How much was Salford Council giving towards the costs? With the Government announcing big cuts to the amounts they give to local councils, the result could be a scuppering of plans of yourselves, Wakey and Cas.

I really do not have a problem with salford or your new ground. I was just asking a simple question to find out how long the S of S took or is taking to give the official green light.
I will assume that you do not have the official go ahead yet after 2 months.

| As far as I've been informed everything is rubber stamped, although I don't know if or where this decision can be viewed. Obviously, back when we went through the first lot of planning, the Council Committee approved it and then needed clearance from above, which resulted in it being called in for public inquiry and then the decision of the inquiry being published (as a fairly weighty document). Now what I don't know is whether there is an official announcement published when something is [unot[/u called in, or whether they just make an announcement if something [uis[/u called in.
Anyhow - drove over Barton Bridge in rush hour last night and had a good chance to see further. Still plenty of work going on past 5pm, and a quite a transformation on the site since the pics I posted 11 days ago. Almost all the site is now leveled and smoothed over, including profiling of the watercourse valley through the site.
