| There is a lot of talk of stellar signings, I for one would rather that we had a strategy of how the team needs to be set up to play and we fit players into that pattern and philosophy. Just buying big names without knowing how you are going to play is a recipe for disaster, not success. Nobby has always worked on the team comes first, I would rather have committed players than a load of egos vying for attention. As I have said on another post, top Aussies will not be coming to any team in Super League.

Someone stated quite clearly on here (several times) that there was absolutely no way he could gain a visa. I'm
Pretty sure the bloke who posted this (several times) was an "immigration specialist" so would clearly know what he's talking about.
Sorry to disappoint, but unless this bloke was some kind of charlatan, I think you'll find the only way Rangi Chase will leave Cas is if he's being deported.'"
You cannot be aiming these comments at me? If you read my posts (since Chase's sentence ended on 11th August) I have always been careful not to completely discount him getting a Visa/Citizenship. As an "immigration specialist" (your words not mine) I am fully aware that anything is possible, it's just very unlikely in this case for reasons I have explained in the 'Rangi Chase' thread!
Even if a deal is announced between the clubs (as wilth Hull FC last year), the Visa is still not a foregone conclusion as it won't be applied for before he actually needs to change employer. Therefore a deal may be agreed, Chase may agree personal terms but the deal MIGHT still collapse as it did last year.

That would be my first question, what's the strategy?
I trust Noble.
He's been there, done it,seen it so he will have the right strategy .
Remember also that we can only sign players that are available and want to come to us.
I suspect the strategy is to supplement the experienced 'name' players with the promising youngsters and release the mid ranking players who are of a lower standard.
I liked Gibson, James, Jewitt etc but his sights are set higher,I think.

It may also be that the Salford club ownership have sufficient about them to allow Chase to play his last home game in front of the Castleford supporters as a Castleford player;albeit one who has submitted a transfer request.
Daryl Powell can put him on with 10 mins.to go and the game lost so he can be thanked and applauded by the Castleford supporters for his time in their colours.
Not sure if he has signed fo Salford what with missing the autumn internationals with a groin injury and his apparent

Our lot don't like rugby league players to be injured.
Best have him in cotton wool for those last 10 minutes - or just allow a lap of honour

I agree here and feel Noble wanted to retain those not out of contract but also move on those who had to go through the depths of depression. Personally feel though of those loyal lads Godwin & Jewitt merited new terms.

As I have said before, I have no connection with this issue and no connection with either club or 'inside knowledge'
All I am going from is the very clear guidance from the UKBA that says:
"[iIf you have an unspent conviction, your application is unlikely to be successful. You should wait until the end of your rehabilitation period before applying[/i" and "[iIf you have been convicted of a criminal offence and the spent period has not passed you must include details of the conviction on your application form. If the conviction is unspent at the time of your application, it is unlikely that your application will be successful.[/i
I wrongly thought 'spent' was double the sentence length (it used to be) but this is also now changed:
"Relevant Rehabilitation Periods
•Sentence of imprisonment of more than two and a half years - Never
•Sentence of imprisonment of more than six months but no more than two and a half years - 10 years"
So Chase's sentence doesn't become 'spent' until 2021!
As Chase's conviction is not 'spent', using the wording from UKBA his application is "unlikely to be successful". However, the term 'unlikely' has some wiggle room, sut I doubt it's enough as he is 8 years from his sentence been 'spent'.

Team seems to be shaping up nicely. I'll be surprised if any of the names announced next week are ones that we haven't heard before, but still hoping there'll be one curveball!

I've put Sammut in at 7 as I have it that he's signing for us with Gaskell joining Bradford (as a half back).
They'll be one or two signing totally under the radar i feel aswel.

| Regardless of signings, Noble will have his work cut out molding a completely new team together. Given a good off-season there's no reason why he can't.

Wow! Morley, McPherson and Rapira all fit at the same time? People say it's possible, but....
Also, according to someone on TotalRL, we've got "Moore. 10000000%". This is the highest Percentage Signing Certainty yet so, assuming he means Scott and not Bobby or Roger, I'd guess he'd be in there somewhere.

I'd put him in there instead of Owen, then he could cover hooker aswel as Scrum Half.

I got shot down in flames for daring to suggest the same thing not so long ago. I think he could do a job as a rotation hooker. You never know, given that he's still growing for another few years, he may bulk out somewhat and slip into that role more naturally. It depends on how Noble wants his hookers to play I suppose.

You do seem overly concerned at players who have suffered an injury.
I don't know who you would have signed as an alternative.
We could have a sticky and compare the injuries against those players signed by other clubs.
Because of the post above I can start with a Warrington signing as he appears to have sustained more injuries than any player coming to Salford [url=http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/south-sydney-coach-michael-maguire-confident-his-team-can-overcome-the-loss-of-roy-asotasi/story-fnbgtxpl-1226321102300HERE[/url and they have aspirations of being 'Top 4' and seem happy with their head coach and backer.

I am really excited about seeing you challenge the world land speed record for backtracking next Thursday.
I told you weeks ago: Chase's visa is sorted. I don't know whether the fee with Cas is sorted but the visa is already in place.
By the way, who was your last client? Abu Qatada?
