| Quote ="Walshovski"Glorious event this evening. More Rugby League luminaries than you could shake a stick at. Watkins, Hesketh, Bettinson, Zenith.'"
I was surprise i wasnt ask to do a bit of Jibba Jabba about the club on the microphone after Watkins did his bit, maybe next time then
As for the museum it is a wonderful thing, very professional, shiney full of great stuff from every era of the club and stuff for the kids to absorbe as well, the club reaily should be proud of what they have produced and will be an asset when trying to attract new fans and spark up old fans into returning.
For me this is the bench mark where we need to go as a club, Match days should be treated in the same professional way as ie lets get DVD's on the big screen pre match every week, lets get a pre game disco on for the kids the musium will certainly get peole interested but the club need to back this up with a proffesional performance off the field, they have a whole off season to plan it, dummy run it at christmas parties and get it it up to full speed for the 1st game of the season and i hope they do
Well done Everyone who got involved to make this happen i can die a happy fan now safe in the knowledge that Salford City Reds have a place to tell the world how good we reaily are.

| Quality all round, quite impressed at the amount of people looking round it when I went yesterday especially people who hardly knew about Salford RLFC or who probably hadn't heard of us before. The highlight being Deano being ranked up there with Risman, Lomas, Watkins etc
Well done to those who made it happen

went to the museum today with my dad and thoroughly enjoyed it. Having been introduced to the willows by my dad in 1985 aged 8 years old the place and the club are so special to me. Father and son time today looking at just some of the history of our club was great. So many memories. If anyone at the club wants anymore contributions to the museum please email me hoskisonjames@yahoo.co.uk. Born red live red forever a salford red

I wonder what the future holds for the museum now that Peel have announced EventCity in the same building?
www.manchesterconfidential.co.uk ... sp?eid=995
Will they keep the existing displays or will they be kicked out for something more profitable?

Id presume that will be moved into where the tutenkamun (spelling) exhibit is currently housed? That is a rather large space and could easily fit what peel are planning.

| Yet another stunning example of Peel's cunning and playing the long game.
Buy an old shed - the Argos warehouse
Go for planning permission as a Musuem (yes really a Musuem!!!!!!!!)
Prove your bona-fides by putting some buses, a replica of Tutankhamum and some rugby memorabila (from a club that you sponsor and therefore control the purse strings)
Then - do what you always intended and say that an exhibition centre is really no different from a museum
Brilliant - I just feel rather sad for those who were taken in and put hard work into getting the museum up and running - I suspect they all have a rather bitter taste in their mouths now

Iain,Why couldn't Event City complement the Museum of Museums? and why shouldn't there be an exhibition centre away from Manchester Central?and there is easily enough space when the Egyption King exhibits move on.
To my mind it's a brilliant idea that could improve the admissions to the various exhibits in the MoM and this coinciding with the stadium opening cannot but help SCR in the short/medium term.

With regards to the first question - I don't know, that's why I'm flagging it up. The article says that the exhibition venue has 4 large halls for exhibition use - so are these 4 halls in addition to the two halls currently used for the MOM exhibits? If the exhibition space is in addition to the MOM space then it would indeed be a good thing for MOM exhibitors to increase footfall. If the letable exhibition space includes the area where current exhibits are, then obviously that would be detrimental.
With regards to the second - no reason. In fact it would be massively positive if this facility is the element of the Dumplington jigsaw that finally sees the cash for Metrolink to arrive in the area (and through to our stadium) - but I won't be holding my breath on that one.

| Just to add my two pennorth - I went along to the Museum of Museums for the first time today just to see the Salford Exhibition. As someone who paid his first visit to the Willows about sixty years ago, the Exhibition brought back many memories. I thought the display was excellent. Congratulations to those who put it together.
If ever the display has to move it would be excellent to see it (and perhaps more stuff) at Barton in a couple of years.

| I bet the Glazers are miffed, if I recall I am sure United owned the building and sold it off when Argos moved out, having bought it off British Tabacco a number of years back, to provide a rental income for the club from use of the Warehouse, i bet Peel didn't pay a lot for it either.

Not a total surprise anyone who did pay a visit couldn't help but notice the temporary nature of the exhibits ( except for the Reds portion that is ).
ideally an area in the new Stadiums West Stand should be put asside for a permanent exhibition ( ie Ticket office , Club Store , Club Museum etc ) .
When the Retail side commences one of the spare / unused units may become available
It's hard to too cynical for a sponsor who has essentially bankrolled us to the tune of 200-300K per season ,and is developing a stadium using part of it's land ( albeit using the councils money ).

| Been asked to inform folk that the Museum is not now closing . It is going to be open at specific times, which I will get more details about.
Apparently, "Great Days Out" will be involved with the actual museum, & when exhibitions are on there, Salfords exhibits will be open & I think pre arranged educational visits will take place.
As above, will get more details & post on here.
