Not sure how. He's contracted and Castleford can dig their heels in as much as they like, especially as now they essentially have nothing to play for.

| I really don't see why Cas fans resent Salford so much. If anything it should be the other way round; they only won the cup in 1969 because of a shocking referring decision to disallow a clear Salford try.

| Wonder if he'll do a Luke Dorn and score a hat trick against us.
Hope he doesn't do an actual Luke Dorn and turn out to be complete shi'ite if we sign him though!

Nothing to do with the RFL, it's an issue between the employer/employee (Salford/Chase) and the UKBA.
With the way the system works a decision can only be made once the application has been made.
Either he has applied and has been successful, or he has not applied yet and a decision will be made by the UKBA when he does. Visas and citizenship applications are not negotiations/discussions - you only know when you have applied and the decision is made.
If Salford have signed him without a new Visa they could have serious problems.

I'm not doubting your expertise in this field but you're not necessarily party to all the facts pertaining to this particular case.
His visa has been sorted and he's free to move to another RFL member club. Wait and see.

| Why do people think they're immigration/visa experts when it comes to Rangi Chase? Do you seriously think Dr Koukash would spend £150k+ on a transfer fee and £200k+ on wages for a player without undertaking the necessary due diligience. Jesus christ, give it a rest and put down those straws you're clutching at.

| Quote ="nottinghamtiger"The Visa issue has been covered in detail. I'm not going to go into the legalities of it again as people just believe whatever they want to anyway, regardless of what they actually know!
One major obstacle to his Visa has been removed - he was serving a sentence up to 10th August 2013. This excluded him from a Visa or Citizenship automatically.
However, a Visa/citizenship will still be difficult. No Visa or citizenship has ever been granted to anyone who has been convicted of a violent offence before their conviction is 'spent' (the time before a conviction is 'spent' is double the sentence) - so Chase's conviction will not be 'spent' until 10th August 2015. If he gets a Visa or Citizenship, he is setting a legal precedent in doing so. It will open a floodgate of appeals from others who are refused a Visa on this basis.
It's not impossible but I would be surprised if he was granted a new Visa or Citizenship.'"
You say no Visa has ever been granted to anyone ?
Then please explain to me how I watched Mike Tyson Vs Julius Francis at the Manchester Arena on the 29 Jan 2000
this after Tyson was given a six year sentence to be followed by four years probation, that's a ten year sentence, on the 26 of March 1992.
You may recall that at the time there was a lot of opposition and many petitions opposing Tyson getting a Visa to work in the UK and I think rape would be classed as a violent crime

I work as an specialist employment lawyer, and therefore have decent knowledge of who is and is not entitled to be employed in the UK. I represent people and businesses who are appealing UKBA decisions regularly.
So that is probably why I feel in a position to comment on the Rangi Chase situation!
However, you'll notice that in all my posts I am aware that things are very rarely set in stone and nothing is impossible.

This was indeed an interesting case, and one of only a few I can think of where the government (in this case Jack Straw) interfered with the UKBA immigration officials. The government's argument was that it was a very, very short-term Visa which would financially benefit British companies (two of which faced bankrupcy if the fight was cancelled). In fact I don't think it was even an employment visa, but rather the "right to enter" the UK as a visitor as any payment was made by his international promotor.
Rangi Chase's case is very different as it is a full employment Visa.

How do you know this? I don't disbelieve you, but you offer no evidence to back up what you are saying. As I assume you are not Rangi Chase or the UKBA official who made the decision, forgive me if I don't take your word as gospel!

Of course.
Sporting regulations and legal regulations are completely seperate.
Chase is entitled to play for England based on residency grounds (ie he has lived for a certain period of time in the country he is representing).
However, his time in the country does not entitle him to a Visa or to British Citizenship.
The key is in your misunderstanding in your post - he is not "English" just because he is able to represent England, and as such requires a Visa or Citizenship to work in the counrty.

So your earlier reply stating that no Visa has ever been granted to anyone was incorrect wow a lawyer that gets things wrong who would have believed that
and just another one you might like to correct is you say the Government's argument was that it was a short term Visa then how come Tyson remained in this country and did payed after dinner speaking until he fought agian in Glasgow
On the 24 June six month's later.
Your reply to Waywood Fan was another thing I must question you on with respect he could say that you too are not Chase or the UKBA offical and if you are claiming because you work in immigration you have some inside information I'm confident you would be aware client confidentiality so unless you are working on the case you have as much knowledge as the rest of us.

I'll deal with the one first. At no point do I claim to have any "inside information" on this particular case. All I have done is outline the legal position from the perspective of my work in similar cases. Indeed, everything I have said can be found in the UKBA's guidance on Visas and Citizenship, the regulations are all on their website for reference should you wish to peruse them. I would consider that I have more knowledge than most about the guidelines, regulations and precedents in such cases.
With regards to the Mike Tyson situation:
There are a number of different types of Visas that can be issued (casual/tourist/student/employment for example). Tyson was given a tourist Visa that allowed him to enter the UK (whether he should have been given this is a bone of contention). These are unually valid for between 6-12 months (classed as short-term). He was not given a working Visa but this was not needed as he was not employed by a UK registered company - his managament company were American and they paid him the necessary fees etc.
As I said in my first post today (and failed miserabely) this issue has been done to death before and I didn't want to get into it again (particularly as I'm having a day off and I've ended up discussing bloody Visa regulations!!). He might get the Visa he needs, nothing is ever set in stone.

Could it be then that Chase may be being paid by a company not registered in this country then....Maybe Dubai? Where MK has business interests .

It's possible, but if it's paid into a British bank account it will certainly have tax implications (sounds a bit like Harry Redknapp's case where it appeared that the Portsmouth owner thought paying someone from abroad was untraceable). With the salary cap I don't think Koukash would be stupid enough not to have Rangi Chase's salary on Salford's accounts, in which case he will need a Visa.

| So much talk about visas & the UKBA , it difficult to fathom how Theresa May finds the time to come on here & consult on Rangi's visa issues when she seems preoccupied with detaining partners of Guardian Journo's .
Maybe when the police said they were searching for"journalistic materials" they meant ' the Rangi Tapes , & proof of Salary Cap contravention , and this whole business of GCHQ - NSA - Edward Snowden & MI5 is a smokescreen .....
