I'm supposing that this is actually the best announcement for Salford fans today.

| As I have said on Facebook, I was not expecting a big name signing announcement. Marwan has been great for us, but he is an egoist and would not let anyone else steal his thunder by making a really big announcement.
For what it is worth I think he is an ok signing. The salary cap restricts how many really big signings you can make, so you do need journeymen as I have heard Weller described as. Seem to remember in his last season at Crusaders he ran all over us at Wrexham, May have scored a couple of tries as well that night.

| After watching the supine superstars brought to the club for this campaign,it is refreshing to see players who the coach has worked with before arriving and having the concept of hard work and team work.
If he has been signed as long ago as the rumours started,it has been an impressive piece of work persuading him to leave Cas shortly after [url=http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/castleford-tigers/castleford-tigers-tigers-take-things-in-stride-under-powell-1-6504855this interview[/url
The coach he has left does seem to be able to put the pieces of the jig-saw in the correct places with a whole host of underwhelming players from the flotsam and jetsam of under-achievers.

| underwhelmed.... understatement of the season ..
maybe that's a good thing.
After the months of ' ace' signings that have build our hopes up for a good season that have failed to deliver .
a signing that doesn't raise our expectations may be beneficial.
At the end of the season we may reflect the Evalds getting game time & Sneyd returning are as much a high point as a Sau , Locke or a Chase like signing.
the Show is not on listen again yet but I'm sure the CEO said something like Sneyd will be one of the 4 halfbacks for next season ?

| Give the lad a chance. Last year we signed Rangi & Marc Sneyd went the other way. Take a look at some of the posts on the Cas forum around that time. Very condescending to say the least!
Today the biggest news is Marc coming back.
We need some craft around the loose forward position and maybe Weller will provide that.
It's a position that needs strengthening so maybe it is a good signing.
I think he'll go well.

Aye. Probably not worth the build up they gave it, but this isn't a bad signing at all. Let's not get all Warrington-like and thinking we're bigger than we actually are. Andy Gregory has identified our lack of a loose forward as one reason why the halves have been misfiring, and this looks like a fix for that problem.

Yup. Chase, Fages, Sneyd and one other. I'm finding that one hard to believe.
Other little snippets:
Shane Flanagan won't be coming over. Problems getting a visa and him starting back at Cronulla in September have meant there's not enough time left for him to do a three month stint over here. Instead, the club have been staying in regular contact with him over all sorts of issues - including player recruitment - and Iestyn will go down to Cronulla to work with him during the close season (assuming he's still our coach then).
For the benefit of the gumptard who started the thread over on the VT about Smith and McPherson being kicked out, Tim Smith left by mutual agreement and Shannan Mc asked for an early release to return to his family in Australia.
Interesting little comment from Gareth Hock about Marwan and the crap people say about him. He said you need to meet him to see what he's really like. He's also really happy at Salford.

| The jig-saw is slowly coming together for next season, here’s how our 2015 first choice 13 looks at the moment with just a few blanks left to be filed (more signings to be announced soon too). Plenty of pace and power throughout the backs, half-backs speak for themselves and our back rowers look excellent too.
1. Kevin Locke
2. Greg Johnson
3.
4. Junior Sa’u
5. Ben Jones-Bishop
6. Rangi Chase
7. Michael Dobson/Marc Sneyd
8.
9.
10. Lama Tasi
11. Gareth Hock
12. Harrison Hansen
13. Weller Hauraki

| I said this the other day all we need is a hooker, centre and prop then were complete. Maybe they might give Walne brothers, Ford & Owen a go i would not be too disappointed with this.

Dudson and Goulding are two names that keep getting mentioned.
A top quality hooker with pace that causes havoc running from dummy half would be top of my shopping list. Daryl Clark would be ideal but I think we may have to look overseas and release another quota player.

Interestingly as we are being contiually linked with Dobson , Wayne Bennett has Dobson playing Left Centre in 4 of the 5 games he's started in their 1st 12 rounds, the last game he played right centre.

| Isn't it wonderful that Vickers announcement about Sneyd coming back seems too have fallen on deaf ears as far as the Cas fans are concerned, all the "I was only speaking to him the other day" brigade seem to have disappeared.
As for next season there was a comment on the radio that seems to have been missed in that there are some hugely gifted youngsters at the club and that they are part of the future plans, so I'd hope that the Walnes continue to be squad players and that the likes of Ford, Evalds, Hope and Owen are given the chance to shine for Salford rather than being farmed out again without a recall option.
I'd hope that the 3 halves we have along with the option of using Evalds in the position means we have more than enough cover. Personally rather than spend a large amount of cap space and taking up a quota spot on Dobson, I'd look to bring in Ryan Brierley and really invest in the future.

| I was only speaking to Marc the other day and he said "can you ask Michigan red where i have said that i want to come back and if i have signed a contract extension"
Have a look at recent interviews that Marc has given (SLTV) and ask yourself do we really want to keep an unhappy player.

Thats the one, Brierley is developing nicely in C1 and i think he is the type of player you could build your team around for 5-10 years.
Sneyd & Brierley in the halves with Evalds at fullback is an exciting prospect.

It's about time you let this one go, fella. Like someone going through a divorce but doesn't want to face reality. Have a little self respect man.

| i've never gone through a divorce so i wouldn't know how it feels. Michigan red was commenting that it had gone quiet. I merely stated that his interviews didn't sound like some one who wants to come back. The way i see it is that your owner has twittered himself into a corner again and Marc will suffer as part of the face saving exercise. The only similarity to a divorce is we are both arguing about the custody of a kid and what would be best for him. Do you not think the kid should have a say? Thanks for keeping it civilised and not mentioning the bubble bursting last night.

You were obviously not privvy to the interview on GMR where our CEO stated that MK and himself had met during the week with Sneyd to discuss Marc's future. It was confirmed that he is coming back next season. This was mentioned along with the signing of Hauraki. You can guess and read into any number of things on this subject. The only definite is the default stance, which is he's a Salford player next year. As stated by the owner, and now the CEO after having talks with Sneyd. I understand your desire to see him stay, but believing something is real is not the same thing as it actually being real. All your posts on this subject are supposition. Until you have hard facts on the subject you should have a good think on whether to air them on the Turkey, where we really couldn't give a toss. Straw grasping, empty debate, and wishful thinking on this subject is for your own forum.

What the hell do you know? I mean all these people who come on here from the Cas board all speak to Marc on a daily basis where he continually says he doesn't want a bar of coming back to his own team.

It is what he wants, so your hypothetical theory is irrelevant.
