i don't hate them, all i was stating was what was happening when I worked at that club in the 90's.
I am also not blaming the people of Salford, what i was saying is that the majority don't feel any attachment to SCR and somehow the club have to find a way of connecting with these people.

| A poor attendance at Warrington, yet they take 30 thousand to Wembley.
Some may blame the stadium, owner, board, car park, attendants, security, turnstile operators et.al but it may take
success on the field for the modern public to feel connected to the club/sport.
Chicken and egg,and nothing those charged with the responsibility can do about it.
Still,as we exist in the zeitgeist of the blame culture...

| Even the optimists must admit that the situation for the club doesn't look good.We don't own our ground,we have a very high cost to pay to play there(attendances required beyond the quality of our team). We are struggling to pay our tax bills. The team is settling into its usual position. Its all catch 22 can't improve the team, can't improve the attendances, etc.
Not an attractive propostion for new investment as there are no assets it all equals a downward spiral unless a very rich, very mad Salford fan appears out of nowhere.

Unfortunately I tend to agree with all you say - however no RL club is exactly an "attractive investment", there will always be better ways to get a return on your money than putting it into Rugby League - sporting clubs are increasingly rich men's playthings we just need to hope that the sugar-daddy for Salford is out there somewhere

| and would you invest with increasing numbers of RL bosses stating there should be 12 SL teams (and not proposing their club be relegated)? Salford must be in their sights.

| It's a pity Fred Done won't step in, especially as he can afford to pay out on United winning the title far too bloody early... He's clearly got enough cash to waste away if he can do that!

| Just because a person comes from Salford does not mean s/he has any concern for Rugby League never mind Salford RLFC.
Mr Done has zero interest in us (except as a funding stream) so let's leave him out.
Actually, I feel the next chairman is already on the horizon and has links with Sale. Just a hunch.

If this was to be the cae and he threw some money at getting us up to full salary cap and invested in the marketing side of the business would people still have an axe to grind?. What else would his money be able to bring to a club that we all agree is woefully short of cash.
One thing is for sure if he did buy into the club the deadwood on the board and in the backroom staff would be out quicker than you could blink an eye as I doubt he would suffer fools gladly.

| what people worry are worried about is that we would get our assits stripped like Stockport County when Cheshire Sports bought them.
From what i see we dont have that many / any assits to strip so reaily for him buy spend a lot of money on us for nothing physical is a big ask in my opinion, unless he wants a rugby club in both codes so he has income all year around i cant see why he would buy us
Still we will wait and see but he will have his work cut out to convince us fans that he isnt here to shut us down
Perhaps if he owed us he could allow Sale to be NO1 tennant and we would work our fixtures round them but reaily if he is spending a couple of million buying us / clearing our debts / getting new people in/ buying better quality players to get us onside worth that especially with his current interest in Glasgow Rangers Sale themselves might find that his concentration is elsewhere?

To be honest, that was my point. Just a bit of frustration boiling over towards the bellsniff. We move on and hope for someone elsewhere.

| If professional rugby league was a level playing field and Salford had the same finances and a long history of success like Leeds, Wigan and Saints I could agree with the criticism towards the club. Forget about these tiresome and repetitive excuses of bad management and poor marketing. The only thing that will improve us to a level that would meet the expectations of the frustrated 'finger pointing' Salford fan, is a substantial sum of extra cash.
There always has to be a blame culture with some people rather than just being prepared to accept the hard reality of the situation. The hard reality being that there isn’t an extremely wealthy benefactor out there with a mission to bring back Salford’s glory days of the 30’s and to a lesser extent the late 60’s and early 70’s.
You could have the best coaching and game plans in the world but without the highly paid elite players to deliver them they would be wasted. Or you could have the best CEO and marketing team equipped with glossy sales material but without a really great product 'winning team' to sell they would achieve much less.
A rugby league club isn’t a business it’s a charity without tax relief and those clubs that enjoy more support can utilise their extra finances for sustainability and higher achievement. As Salford fans we should know this because it was the very reason we coasted NL1 a couple of times. It amuses me how some can come to a conclusion that if the club got shut of a few ‘off the field’ employees it would be the solution to our lack of success in Superleague.

| Is`nt that the idea of the salary cap to have a level playing field? No i won`t forget the excuses of bad management and poor marketing because that is exactly what it is.Was`nt this move going to make us the richest club in S.L.? Yeah right. This club is going backwards, slowly, drip fed setbacks month after month. When was the last snippet of good news to come out of this club off the field?

I didn't think that anyone with a modicum of common sense thought for one minute that we would achieve full salary cap in three/four months at the new stadium.
There are area's where the club could have done better off field than it has and it must improve.
I thought that the deals for Fages and Owen were good news and their contracts were signed off field.

Those plans died longer ago than JFK.
We're fortunate to have a ground that allows us to retain a Super League franchise. Personally, I really enjoy taking my little lad to a stadium that's modern, safe and has great views.
This idea that it would all be ok if we'd stayed at The Willows is plain daft.
