So how do you view all of this, then? Why do you, I'm assuming, see Sale moving into Barton and potentially becoming Primary Tenants a good thing?

Maybe, but under a different name? Kennedy will get what he wants and have a 'Manchester' club fro each code playing there. It's not looking good.

Make it fail to push us out of the ground and attempt to make the Greater Manchester area a Rugby Union hotbed centred around 'Sharks.'
Good ol' Wilky's legacy is turning into something just as bad as his tenure as Chairman.

| why is it such a bad thing? We need someone in the stadium to share the costs, by lowering these cost the money can be diverted to there areas such as the team or coachign staff. the fact we won't have as high running costs will surely make us a more attractive proposition to potential buyers. Also maybe Sale will be able to teach us a thing or two about marketing and give Mr Tarry a kick up the ar$e he needs. I do think Wilky has taken us a far as he can now, we need a new owner with drive and surely being in anew stadium, with a better playing staff than last year, instead of a run down stadium with no prospects and thrwoing money at things such as maintenaince is much more appealing investment?

Is that a fact? We don't know. There's an assumption that our costs decrease but I've not seen anything to confirm that. If it's true that ourselves and Sale will each be paying half of what we are currently paying that great - but I don't know that's the case and it doesn't seem to make sense. Why would we have been getting reports of Sale struggling to agree rent if the rent is half what we're currently paying. Do Sale consider that our current rent is 100% overvalued?
Quote ="Bigpev" it may in the long run bring in more fans and we may improve as a club, we will get the marketing expertise of Sale/manchester as well.'"

Sale have already said that they are going to develop their business and administration base at their facility in Carrington. How does that help us learn any more from their marketing than we can now? I don't see why they would want to help a rival organisation with their marketing, especially with their stated desire to "Seize Manchester and take the North West".

| I seem to remember foretelling this many many months ago and being told on this board that I was paranoid. Well welcome to my paranoia folks!
As far as we were led to believe Salford City Reds had a contract as Primary Tennants, therefore if Sale are given it then they and the SMC are in breech of that and can surely be sued.
Finally, we as supporters should fight this. Maybe we should petition the council and Peel holdings and should that be too late (as I think it now is) maybe we should make life as uncomfortable for Sale as possible. Perhaps a picket line/ blockade at their first match.
Failing that I'm sure we can tip off the Brookhouse estate kids when all their Beemers and Lexus' are going to be left unattended!!!!

| Pev : please either verify what Iain is saying or tell us its wrong. I cannot see how Salford RLFC can afford the rent that the stadium company would charge on the assumption that the amount is doubles as long as they fail to bring in other tenants.
As for the future of Salford: well, just as the city ups its standing, bang goes the only high-level professional team and ground.
Imagine Swinton being the only Salford club: my guts are twisting.

| Anyone know if there is someone able to carry on,financially, with the union side named Sharks if that small club with a fanatical following of Caledonians, scattered around the world, accept the bid from Kennedy to take them over ?
The administrators at Rangers could make a decision later today.

from what I can gleen from the Monday meeting (not the SMC or club) the deal will relieve Salford of a lot of financial commitments re the stadium, currently Salford were paying the rent, if two move intogether as a couple you share the rent. I don't know if we get any money from the bars or the £13m contract went straight to the SMC which is effectively the council and Peel.

| Time for the cliques in our support to come to an end now. If we can't unite together over something like this we are just going to watch Sale walk all over us. Something needs to be sorted sooner rather than later before we end up in a similar situation as Leigh have been in (at war with the stadium company) or Stockport (sliding slowly in oblivion).

| I think most Salford supporters are united on this argument. Very few see many positives, and most, rightly so, are highly suspicious of anything Sale related. Unfortunately, there's little we can do. Salford as a Club have no say in what the stadium company want. If someone like Kennedy can dangle a carrot, my worry is what he and Sale intend to do about their annoying working class co-tenant?
There's little argument about the product on the pitch. Rugby curious neutrals will just be bored and baffled by RU and RL fanatics wouldn't touch it with a very long stick. It's how Sale and its minions see Salford as an annoying itch they'd like to scratch off the surface which worries me. What would they be willing to try to become sole operators at SCS?

So if Salford and Sale are splitting Salford's existing costs then you're saying that the SMC don't get any more income from an extra tenant other than their cut of catering from 16 more home games? I still don't get why there would have been so much stalling by Sale if they were being offered Half our current deal. Don't get me wrong, I'd happily see us have enough money knocked off our rent to let us sign a few quality players, but I'm very wary about giving a competitor a platform to expand from.

If Pev is correct would this mean that the stadium company will be forking extra out on stewards/running costs etc for however many games Sale play, yet not getting anymore income from stadium rent? ![Confused icon_confused.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_confused.gif)

| So where do we go from here? The club need to come out and give us some clarity of what's going on and where we stand in terms the joint deal obviously they cant do that until its all official but you can guarantee they will keep quiet and not say anything. If they do give a statement they will probably tell us the decision to move our youngsters to Sale is nothing to do with them and they had no control over it. ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

| The club cannot come out and say ... as most of it is nothing to do with them AS YET. They are as a boarder who could could to his landlord about the unsavoury habits of a co-tenant in the shared bathroom or kitchen, or that they play different music at night.
But there is one issue: why are we putting our young players into Sale's ground? That does need explaining. Stage 1 of a more formal coming together?

If it mirrors the way in which these contracts are handled in other stadiums then the contract money will go to the SMC and Azure will keep all the profits from match day sales.

| I think some need to get real! I am Salford through & through I have my own business & the economics are quite simple, fans don't buy its product it will go out of business or be sold to save!
We were dead at the willows with no prospect, we have a fighting chance at Barton we need to see the small print before we condemn every word said! From where I sit we are not in a strong position to dictate who comes & who goes?
We have an hard core fan base of no more than 3000 & unless we have deep pockets the stadium company will not put up with this long term, surely we understand this, if Sale or whoever can tempt 10000 fans to each game whether we like it or not we will become second best unless we can attract a new fan base.
We do not own the stadium but we are in the box seat having had Salford council put around £10million of tax payers funds into making this happen. If we believe we have a product then the club & us need to sell it, the Salford public do not seem to care enough that's part of the problem.
