I would say this is the most stupid thing I've read all day but someone on Twitter suggested Koukash should simply release him because he doesn't need the money.

Yes, because it works like that. It was well known that Gareth Bale was earning £85m at Spurs.

| I can't see the point in forcing a player to stay when he doesn't want to. More so if he isn't first choice in his chosen position.
None of us really knows the conversations, real or imagined, between Sneyd and the club's management, so any inferences that the lad has been dishonest are nonsense.
I saw his quality a couple of years ago and offered that, to me, he was the closest I'd seen to Shaun Edwards for some time. Others disagreed. Apparently some big names might be interested, so I may not have been so daft afterall!
If he wants to go, let him. There is no value in making a player do something he doesn't want to do. But at the right price. And that is nothing to do with the value of his contract. It has everything to do with his perceived worth.
So far as Alan Hunte is concerned, if Salford achieve Sneyd's worth, he will have done his job. And should be congratulated on that. He also has others who have the potential, but SRD are not a club to experiment with their youth in the way that others have.
Wigan turned out what appears to have been a superb performance tonight with a massive youthful contingent. SRD have some equally talented lads in A Walne, J Walne, Owen, Davidson, Ford and Tyson, to name some, who are capable, together with the other youngsters, Evalds and Fages, of emulating the Wigan kids, given the chance.

| Good luck to him whatever he decides.
His performances at Cas have surprised most of us and he deserves a starting place at 6 or 7.
We have decided that Dobson and Chase will be our first choices so you can't blame him at all.
As regards the fee,it's being suggested that there's a formula that the RFL works to.
I've no idea whether that's true but clearly if that's right then we'll have no choice

Sneyd's future is where his agent can get him and himself the best deal. Sneyd's future at Cas is not certain at all at the moment.

But the "best" deal is not necessarily entirely financial - for a player with aspirations say to play internationals etc. it may well include the prestige value of the club, the quality of the coaching etc etc - many factors.

| His agent has been offering him to several SL clubs so it would seem that his heart is not set on a move to Cas but too wherever he can get the best deal.If he was dead set on a move to Cas he would tell his agent to get the deal done regardless of the financial package being offered but he hasnt done that.
His agent has acted badly on this one.Going round offering the services of his client to other clubs when he already has an existing contract with 18 months still to run is not good.

I never suggested it was.
I was inferring that the best deal is one where all parties are happy. That may well mean he moves to a different Club than Cas and us.

| Saints would be a good move. Player exchange as well? As long as Turner is not suggested. Percival would be interesting. Doc & Eamonn get on too so maybe a door ajar there.

Surely he wants to be playing somewhere where he would be first choice half back. Would he be guaranteed that at Saints?

ironically, it was Marwan's messing around with marquee signings and golden tickets that meant they didnt have time to debate the issue of home grown allowances at the Chairman's meeting!

I would imagine he would become our first choice 6. Either Lance Hohaia will be going home (unlikely), or will drop back to being a rotation player as he was last year.
We have struggled for a 6 for years. Wheeler was supposed to be getting the gig this year, but has barely played. Lance is distinctly average there. Turner has not really done anything to suggest he can make it there, and there are no young half backs on the horizon.

Where a transfer is to take place pursuant to Operational Rule C1:3:16 above and the two Clubs are unable to reach agreement then the following scale of payments shall apply:
A sum equivalent to the sum of £115 per week of training and education invested in the Player and a further lump sum of £5,000 if the Player attains a salary of £25,000 per annum or more with the new Club.
So, if Sneyd has been at Salford for 5 years in total (?), he would be worth about £35k.

So basically Salford or any other club could take their pick of Superleague's elite young players, offer them big money get them to put in a transfer request and then pay just 20-30K in compensation to their club. What you waiting for Doc? Make cutbacks on the youth system and put the savings into poaching the best young players that other clubs have worked hard over a few years developing.
Joe Burgess and Liam Sutcliffe would be an absolute bargain for about 40K ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| While Sneyd is undeniably a great prospect, I can't imagine that he'd necessarily be a first choice half-back for the best clubs in the League [ijust yet[/i.
It would be a shame to lose a player of Marc's calibre, but if his heart isn't in it I say lets command a decent transfer fee for him and wish him the very best.

Difference here is that he is under contract and we havent granted him a release so their is no transfer fee to argue over. That would only apply if we were prepared to let him go but a fee couldnt be agreed upon.

| He's been offered to Wigan, who have declined. They are prefering to stick with their own talent (Williams/Hampshire/Powell), something that perhaps MK should think about doing.
Is Dobson really that much better than Sneyd? Wouldn't it have made sense to tell Marc he is coming back next season as Tim Smith's replacment and spend the money on a hooker instead of Dobson? Or is that too sensible?

| I'm amazed at all the hype surrounding Marc Sneyd. You could be fooled into thinking he is the next Jonathan Thurston.
One good half a season at Castleford, where the rest of the team are also over achieving as individuals suddenly entitles you to be banded around Super League by your agent. Crazy.
I hope he stays, we havent had many products from our youth system over the years and it would be a shame to see one let go, particulary after the promise he's shown over the last 4 months. Lets not get carried away though.

Well Sneyd isn't doing a bad job at Cas. Dobson however did ok at Hull KR, but hasn't had much of a chance at the Knights. He will probably be better than Tim Smith, but does he have much improvment in him? Sneyd on the other hand, you would have to think, has a lot more potential in the long run. I would have thought that after the likes of Melli and Puletua you would be fed up of short term signings? Why not carry on your investment in Sneyd?
What is obvious to everyone is that you need a hooker. Logan will be back at Wigan next season.
