No doubt the RFL will show their lack of impartiality once again and they will get away scott free and charge the Salford lads. Tom Armstrong is up for a Grade B for the tackle on Forster.
So this week it looks like you will be without 4 players who are all banned. What was it you were saying about the RFL disciplinary panel? Or maybe you should question the coaches involvement in the poor discipline

I agree to a certain extent re the coaching however I think many will see grade b for a spear tackle quite lenient when players such as Fages have got 2 games earlier in the season for a minor incident in comparison.
As for our injury crisis, perhaps we can ask Oldham for some of our old academy players back for a couple of weeks.

It's a fair point. We have the worst disciplinary record in Superleague and Harris must accept responsibility and address it. With our unfortunate injury situation, poor discipline has really compounded our current selection problems. I don't know if players get money deducted from their contracts if they get banned but if they don't perhaps the club should consider it.

| Turn up with a pair of boots on sunday and you cud get a game.
My lad plays number 6/7/9 for Buxton Bulls, He will be more than happy to play for Salford.
And im sure a few more lads will put there hands up if we are that short of players.
Question for those in the know, can the match be called of , if we cannot field a team, due to injuries and banned players.????/

Patterson - 3 Game Ban , £300 quid fine
Averaging 2 ban & 2 injuries a game , at this rate Chase will have no team mates by the time he makes it back on the field .
they might even be forced to play Locke ......

| So we’re missing:
J Griffin
Sa’u
Dobson
Ben Jones Bishop
Walton
Lee
Paterson
Chase
Hauraki
D Griffin
A Walne
J Walne
Menzies
England (on loan)
Ford (on loan)
And we're looking at registering Ian Watson as a player.
I’ve never known anything like it. If it was Saints, Wigan or Leeds missing this amount of players the TV pundits would explode.

No, our 19’s at the moment are struggling. We have no where near the quality of academy players that Wigan, Saints, Leeds etc. For us to throw a young 16/17 year halfback straight into a super league match when we don’t even have one training fulltime (I don’t think) would be criminal. Not only for the team, but for their confidence as well, especially if he makes a few mistakes early doors and our fans start getting edgy. First of all they have to earn a place in the first team by playing well at u19’s level and if the coaches don’t feel that the players we currently have in that position are good enough then we have to respect that decision, at the end of the day they watch them every day in training and are trained to develop the young lads properly.
Our academy at the moment is a work in progress, we have a number of good products playing in the first team already: Fages, the Walne Brothers, Walton and Matty Gee and Ryan Lannon were both on the bench against Leeds last week, so we’re getting there. Plus we have also let a number of players leave in the past: Ratchford, Turner, Sneyd so we do produce them, maybe not on the scale of a Wigan or Leeds, but I'll say it again we’re getting there.
FWIW I don’t think Watson will play, I just think he’s being registered as a last resort.

Tried that last year at Widnes, playing the centre whose name I forget, but difficult to pronounce anyway, and the poor lad was totally out of his depth and hasn't been seen since.

He gives us a little experience at half back as Theo Fages is still only 20 and doesn't have the experience in guiding the team around the pitch. The only other options are playing people out of position and in a season in which teams can't really afford to lose many games, we need all the chances of winning as we can get. Playing Watson in order to direct the team around the field gives us slightly more of a chance. Plus we only have maximum 17 available players, so if someone were to pull up in training or the warm-up, we won't have enough players full stop.

This is absolutely BOB ON! The young lads aren't ready for this and it will only damage them. I'd rather bring other young lads in or people like Godwin and protect these lads. We are on for a hiding the next few matches and its not the right time to progress anyone.
My opinion is that you bring academy lads in 1 at a time, into a competitive team, not one that is going to get stuffed. Cas will rip us to pieces and will only lead to questioning some of the academy lads questioning their furture.
People like Theo, Niall and A Walne were brought into the team a few year when we were able to intergrate them into the team. Yes we got battered , but they were more prepared than chucking in part tiem academy lads. Leave them be.
Weve got a really tought month ahead and I don't expect any points, I feel like were in a really battle now for bottom four and we have to keep belief.
At the end of the day the injuries are unfortunate, but the bans and penalty counts need addressing FAST. We can't blame anyone else at the end of the day, the table will tell the truth.
Keep the faith!!

I've resisted replying to this thread until now, because the shortsightedness of our fans astounds me. We dont have any 19's capable ??
Yet in pre-season this forum was ablaize with praise for the 19's who played in the friendlies, i would rather give them experience than help wigan out and blood their youngsters, a poor result would be worth the experience they gained. How must the young centre feel who played pre-season, same age as gildart !!

In some kind of RL utopia this would be acceptable. But we don't live in that world.
Our U19's are simply not ready. Throwing a young lad into the deep end is more likely to end their career than give it a leg-up. We've done it in the past and seen young lads take massive steps backwards after their confidence is shot to pieces. To even suggest that it would be a good idea is simply ridiculous and shows you have little understanding of how coaching, man-management, and the game in general works off the pitch.
The only shortsightedness here is from yourself.

I’m talking about halfbacks, you know the two players that take you around a field. Do we have young halfback that’s been playing well enough in the U19’s and is capable of playing super league? The answer is no, we don’t. I don’t recall a young halfback (apart from Theo) playing in any of the friendlies?
The young lads that came in did well, but were out of their depth against Dewsbury. With the current injury crisis now isn’t the time to bring in the youngsters, they need to be introduced gradually when the team is playing well to protect them. The U’19s have won one game against a poor London team so far this season, not knocking them, but the fact is they are not ready for the step up, a lot of the lads playing are only 16 FFS.
As far as I can tell we have loaned Gildart because our current centres are out on loan and can’t be recalled. This is the problem with the current set up as soon as they get over 19 they have no where to go so the club need to loan them out to keep them match fit. No body expected the current injury/suspension list so the coaching staff cannot be blamed for loaning players who normally wouldn’t get a game out.

Perhaps it is time to bring back the reserve 'A' teams. Run properly, squad players, players returning from injury, suspension, blooding u19s and promising lads older than 19, plus tralists. Keeps them all available to the mother club
