David Matthews, the new CEO, assured the meeting that detailed, specialist legal advice had been taken about the visa issue and the club had been assured there would not be a problem. They expect to hear in the next few weeks.

Well until it is officially announced that he has a visa we are going to have to endure the trolling that will surely come our way.

The good news is that the contract is subject to him obtaining a VISA so if it went tits up we'd have lost nothing more than face.

We also took high level legal advice when we tried to sign him last year. All looked very promising to start with and then UKBA started throwing all sorts of obstacles up. In the end we gave up as it was going to take months to sort out with no guarantee of a positive outcome. Maybe his situation has changed since and you'll have better luck.

I wouldn't fancy my chances of getting him a Visa, as I have said often he has a BIG obstacle to overcome with his conviction 8 years from been considered spent.
As Koukash appears to think Chase in English and doesn't require a Visa, it seems he has done no homework whatsoever on the legal position.

"Don't bother trying to employ him, he stands no chance of getting a Visa" = no money.
"He might get a Visa, but it's a very specialised area. We might get him a Visa if we spend long enough trying" = lots of money.
Which would you tell a client, particularly one as rich as Koukash?
