| It's just dawned on me another reason why the noble announcement was delayed, if you think about it if Koukash announced noble as coach a few weeks ago. What would of the players done? They would of tried their absalute best to impress the new coach. But in hindsight Noble probably didn't really want that he would of wanted to see the players with the guards down and how they were likely to play in every match. I think nobby has been monitoring the side for a good few weeks, picked out the players who he sees surplus to requirement and identified the players who he thinks can bring something to the team.
Also did anyone notice the team yesterday was all English bar fages? A few academy lads thrown in aswel, I think this would of been another noble instruction to observe and see what young lads have or have not got it? Very interesting and exciting!

| Dean Bell was sat with Ed Farish yesterday. I'm assuming he didn't travel from New Zealand just to watch us play Hull on a chilly Saturday afternoon (jeez, we are struggling to get people from the comfort of their armchairs in Eccles).
Any thoughts?

Dean Bell was with Wigan, when Graham Lowe was coach, and with Leeds as player and coach - first team and academy. He is currently at New Zealand Warriors as a general manager and it is best to read the link for his responsibilities which stretch from Under 20's to first team [url=http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/7823651/Warriors-promote-Bell-to-general-managerLINK[/url
I can link Tony Kemp, named above by Michigan Red,with Dean Bell and Kemp was invited to be given his last role by Graham Lowe.Again this involved player pathways.
Dean Bell is a hugely respected figure in rugby league and Kevin Sinfield has mentioned in interviews that when he was in the academy at Leeds,Dean Bell gave him a book which espoused the theory that hard work leads to success.
My thoughts are that this will be to do with the future success,or plans and processes for success,by the seamless continuity of young players through the system into the first team.
It seems every one in rugby league admires Dean Bell.
Thanks for your post Derek Smalls I feel very much better just for reading it.
I hope it ain't a wind up

Dean Bell was there, with Farish and another bloke who I didn't recognise. Bell was at Leeds on Friday as well.

| Personally think that Noble will be charged with a bit if a tilt at the cup. Would love to see if we could get as high as 9th or 10th in the league but think talk of making the 8 is a bit fanciful.
Do hope that he plays his strongest available 17 next week and really goes all out to try and instill a bit of confidence as then hope for a kind home draw in the next round.

| Noble is a good coach to get you moving in the right direction and get you away from the foot of the table, IMO. It may involve a lot of 5 drives and a kick, but results should come easier. Ask the Wigan fans - he struggled to win them a trophy, but certainoy got them out of the doldrums.
The criticism of Noble's success at the Bulls used to stem around a 1 dimensional play book when he had the 4 biggest props in the league. If the entertaining attacking play that you showed last season (albeit centred around 3 guys that have left) can be fused to Noble's coaching, you'll be more than a decent team to watch.

It seems to have helped Dean Bell himself with his playing success. The book he wrote also had an aphorism at the start of each chapter.
It also seems to have worked with McGuire and the others who developed through the Leeds academy.
I don't even think he has a psychology degree.
Success on the cheap.

| Does anyone know if when the official club release tomorrow about Nobles appointment is made if it will have any details of new players who have been signed for this season? Seem to remember a quote from the Doc about being in discussions with the coach about who can be brought in now to stiffen things up immediately.

| I'm wondering now the Doc seems to have the man who he really wanted in the hot seat and they have got a hit list of the personel they want if his attention will now revert to where it's needed in the back room staff and to him obtaining a stake in the stadium.
With the Castleford game being targeted as a bit of a brand relaunch you'd hope that new merchandise, playing shirts going on general sale and possibly some sprucing up of the concourses might be on the cards.

| Don't think you should expect too much on the merchandise side of things. Too short a time scale to get orders in, stuff made, dispatched, advertised etc

| TAKEN FROM THE SPORTINGLIFE.COM.
The 52-year-old former Bradford, Wigan and Great Britain coach was presented on Tuesday as the Reds' successor to Phil Veivers at a press conference at the Salford City Stadium.
Noble, who has been without a club since leaving Crusaders at the end of the 2010 season, said: "It's very exciting. There is an urge to get back in."
Noble said he plans to bring in an assistant but confirmed current assistant coach Sean Long will remain part of the club's backroom staff, along with caretaker coach Alan Hunte, who will stay in charge for Sunday's Challenge Cup tie against the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham before handing over control of the team.
Salford chairman Marwan Koukash said: "I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have Brian as our head coach."He knows the potential of the club and believes in my vision."

| I must admit to being one of those who was initially a little underwhelmed at the pospect of Noble coming in as the new Head Coach. Have to say, I already believe it's going to be a great appointment. Any Salford fan who questions anything positive the club is attempting to do, needs to think back 5 short months to last December.
All the jealous sniping about how far he can/ cannot take us is futile. The man will clearly not stand for any time wasters, or as he put it, 'mercenaries'. I love the way he has already said the club won't have 'their pants taken down' (so long Mr Morley) - he's probably viewed it going on at Salford from afar for years. I believe he is what the club has been crying out for for decades: the epitome of professionalism.
He won't let us down.

I haven't seen the conference but read the quote on a twitter account and I took it to mean any player who signed for Salford would not have their pants taken down ie they would be paid, unlike at other clubs ie Crusaders.( But I could be completely wrong !)
Quote ="Michigan red"

As the Castleford game on the 27th is a Ladies Day it may be a suitable time for a 3 game ticket for the price of 2.
Next 3 home games all against Yorkshire opposition - Cas,Bradford and Wakefield;last one on Sky tv.The Bradford game could easily have a strapline,as that is where Noble won things.
As hopefully we are still in the Challenge Cup after Sunday then a half-season ticket could be sold for the remainder of the campaign as this should give season ticket holders priority for the CC game ticket allocation.
Having checked the record of Noble he has 3 Grand Finals,3 World club Championships yet only 1 CC Win.
Emphasis should perhaps be made on the CC as success in the tournament will certainly raise the profile of the club.

| He said the club won't have it's pants pulled down salary wise & ANY player signed must want to play for us, not just be in it for the money. May not be any new signings in for the rest of this season due touch of available quality.
