| One of (if not the) main honcho's at Peel is a Salford lad.
The thing that makes Salford appealing to Peel is the port development and I'd suspect the need to keep the council sweet to allow more and more construction in and around the immediate area.
To a company like Peel the investment in running a top RL side at full salary cap and to run it in a professional way is peanuts. Would also act as brilliant publicity for the project of Port Salford as a whole.
I'd also suspect that if Peel did help make Salford a top team the council would be very pleased as that again could only lead for better publicity for the city and also help future investment as a result.

Really? They are not a construction company, more a land owner/developer. They own most of the land bordering the Manchester Ship Canal and Salford Quays as well as stakes on some shopping centres and retail parks - but they don't actually build themselves.

THE head honcho is a Bury lad (with Isle of Man residency for convenience).

| What you have to ask yourselves is who is prepared to buy the directors loan accounts. I am sure neither Mr Wilkinson nor any other director would be prepared to just write it off, then again any new investor probably would want to empty the closet. The other option is to let the current company go bump and start afresh debt free. That route of course brings it's own problems with the Rugby league.

| If its as you all say it's in place and done why not just say so I will sit on fence till it happens at the end of day if these owners were interested surely they would have had an interest in keeping players like Marty smith instead of having to rebuild from scratch to prove there are interested rather than sitting on fence and seeing club depleted. Not convinced at all a typical club statement that we get every year

Yeah, the company is more than likely named after the town of Peel in the IOM, which incidentally is a cracking place to visit/live etc, not least due to their 7.5% income tax.

| Yeah when my season ticket is up I have had season ticket for over 20 years and just fed up of hearing same rubbish so if new investors were serious like everyone here says answer one question why let the finances get worse and wait till next year they would want to take on less debt as possible would also not make sense to wait. Also would make a pledge to prove interest by trying to keep a good squad by keeping likes of Marty smith rather than watch club sell its good assets and it would cost more to rebuild. So tell us when I have made fair comment that sees not just me that does not believe club any more give your so called answer to why an invester would see club get worse as dragons den would say I am out

| The question in plain English an invester would want to take on as little debt as possible and would show it's serious buy putting an offer in so why would an invester let you sell Marty smith if the invester was interested why would he or them stand by and let club take a fall on players. Why would a new so called owner let players that played well for us let a club sell them. Would not want to completely rebuild and sell players that did good job for us so why wait and take on more debt? And if a deal was done why not just come out and say it tells me it's not concrete and in stone so like I say believe it when it's announced.

| Why if you were keen on buying a club would you wait till end of year where you could take on more debt if you were that intrested? You would also show your hand to prove intrest by helping club keep old of Marty smith and maybe we might have made play offs knowing a bigger income from playoff rugby would bring in to had to your investment don't know why that should be alien I am trying to say would prove intrest ands might have helped as an healthier business proposition for new owners that would make sense business wise and would impress disgruntled supporters would it or would it not

miles off! John Whittakers first 'business' was Bury based Peel Mills, which was historically owned by the famous Bury based Peel family (which includes Robert Peel - ex Prime Minister and founder of the police force). As business interests expanded - they were all called 'Peel'.

lol - fair enough, still worth being wrong to learn that Robert Peel was from Bury.

| Investors may not have decided to come on board before Matty smith decided to leave which was a while before he actually did - hopefully it will be announced in the next few weeks then phil can go on building a team Who want to play for the shirt next year - peel would be could because of the money but who would they put in charge of running the club because the current set up is not working hopefully it's someone who shares JW passion for the club and just isn't buying us to make any money possible by selling every right to sale - I fear that this whole Leigh thing has brought a backlash with fans and hopefully has not put any potential investors off !!

| He called it Peel after the town in IOM,where he has a house,,despite the coincidental connection with Bury.

Why would anyone from gods county feel the need to go to bury? There's plenty of far more interesting towns over this side of the Pennines! When I do feel the inclination to don my waterproof and head over the hills, Manchester tends to grab my attention rather than Oldham, burnley, widnes or any of the other "charming" towns you have over there.
Try coming to Harrogate or York if you feel the new for a culture fix
