| [iTWO-MATCH BAN FOR SMITH
Salford hooker Jeremy Smith will miss his side's next two Engage Super League matches after punished for foul play.
The former New Zealand international was given a two-match ban by the Rugby Football League's disciplinary panel after they found him guilty of striking Danny Orr with his forearm during the Reds' 26-22 win over Harlequins.
Smith, who will sit out Salford's trip to Wakefield on Sunday and the following match against Hull FC, was also fined £300.

Was also a damn awful pub as well. Remember one visit when they didn't have lager or guinness on and the day it went off in there they were only serving people who were paying with a fiver or less for a while as they didn't have any change.

Makes our season ticket prices seem very reasonable, even with the membership fee?!
Agree that the Wakey fans on here (and on their own board) are an unusually reasonable, friendly bunch.
Not too convinced that all fans in their ground reflect this though - had some unpleasant experiences at their place with some thoroughly obnoxious Wakey fans, and a group of their fans gave my younger brother a bit of a kicking outside the Willows a couple of years back, simply because he had a Salford shirt on.
Not one for tarring with wide brushes though and will continue to enjoy the current pleasantries on here in the run-up to our game at the weekend.

| wakefield is a quality away trip, in many ways a hidden gem compaired to the bright lights of huddesfield.
As for being a "friendly" place i was in montys that day and it was like being in a deleated scene from the football factory, i dont think they were rugby fans tho.
I also had my parm tree punctured once in the con club next door to the ground by a very angry and hard looking man after we won?? Probably why its members only now...... And again i dont think he was a fan
The further from the ground the more friendly they are, the snooty fox pub is the roughest pub ive ever been to following salford but the landlord let me behind the bar to use a mirror because the one in the toilets was smashed, customer service at its very best

MOM: Sammy Obst
(Brough to play- deal cant be arranged, Cooke deal still on going between Cooke and HKR)- Just my prediction.
Thanks for the comments Reds fans!
RE: Snooty Fox; Thats a bit of a heavy metal bar, very rough but very friendly.
TBH I think your best bet is to get in early (and stay late) at "The Cats bar" inside the ground. Not sure if there will be a youth game on before, but theres always friendly fans about. And players and coaching staff around after.

| Yah the Snooty Fox is fine, they also do pickled eggs which is a rare find these days, but nothing in the way of decent ale AFAIK. Fernandes across the road always sounds interesting but I'm never sure if it'd be open or not due to a couple of reports on the Beer in the Evening site of people turning up in the afternoon to find it closed. I think the incident bobby is referring to was three years ago, I remember getting texts off him and Yorky Red when it was going off, I'd gone for a Chinese down the road, thought it was a bit strange as things had been friendly inside the ground (as usual).

| PS I've been suggested the Con Club by a Wakey fan at work, it has a big screen I've been told and handy with the footy finishing 3:20pm ish, though if it is still Members Only that's a shame and shooting themselves in the foot on match day.

yeah i witnessed that aswel unfortunately the clue of a lot being in chav gear and LUFC tops suggests that maybe their intentions were not very pro wildcat.
every club as its numpties and outside the ground incidents happen with idiots who haven't even been to the match , the only place my car has ever suffered damage was salford but it happened more than likely whilst we were all in the ground therefore rules out salford fans

| If you're wanting to watch the Football guys then i'd suggest one from either Westgates, Barristers, Graziers, Pravda or Shooters. These are the pubs that i'm sure will be showing it. All are in the town centre though so probably won't be able to watch it all but Taxi's are only about 3.50 to Belle Vue so it's an idea?
Boons which is near to Westgate train station i believe also shows live footie so that'd be a good shout.

Last season there was a group of about 20-30 chavs all about 18 thinking they was hard to shout stuff then when a few of our fans said something back they shut right up. $h!t bags

We have over the last few seasons had a few young lads (probably too young to have any at all) having a couple too many to drink and being obnoxious.
I have to say I haven't noticed this yet this season so hopefully you'll just encounter our friendly side (unless you beat us )

Sorry and surprised to hear this. But, as stereotypes go, Wakey fans should surely be classed as relatively friendly mob.
I just hope that we are regarded in the same way despite the best attempts of a certain subsection. :s

| Wakey is the best away trip of the season (M62) For any Reds with time on there hands Wakefield is a fantastic night out loads of bars/clubs and the people are really friendly. I can remember going to a match in Wakey and coming back two days later with another member of this forum having hooked up with a couple of Yorkshire lasses.
NB: To present miss's we were both free and single

| There's a lovely little village called Heath - about 30 minutes walk from the ground - the Kings Arms does excellent food and good real ale.
Hillbilly Red and myself will be installed in said establishment for some time before the match - we may even tear ourselves away and make it to the ground

There was a couple of older Wakey fans near us who was saying that lot tried to kick off every game and they didn't no anyone who actually liked them, so they must of been a bunch of sad pr!ck$. The rest of the Wakey fans were alright and the previous 4 times Ive been they were.

| Have a safe journey over guys. Looking forward to a good game. Watch where you park - the local police and clampers are extremely keen on matchdays (particularly along Doncaster Road towards city centre and round the new flats close to Chantry Bridge).
