No, the point of them is to buy off enviro-mentalists who don't like to see progress.
I expect a cost-benefit analysis of "rainwater harvesting" for example has not been done. These devices are best utilised on a large scale to benefit from existing terrain, local climate and economies of scale - and are usually called reservoirs. As a club we can't be throwing money on expensive sops to lobbyist groups

| or a large water butt to maximise rain runoff from the stadia roof which could then be used to water the pitch. Mind you if it is installed by United Utilities it will most likely have a number of holes in it allowing for leakage.

You really haven't got a clue have you? Many stadiums and new stands around the country have installed rainwater harvesting and the energy saving measures I mentioned without even publicising it (hence not to pander to the greens) because the measures save them money. Last time I checked, neither water nor electricity were free. I did some work with a league two football team recently and they were desperate to reduce the bill for irrigating the stadium pitch and two training pitches, but they'd worked out that due to the topography of the stadium site it would cost an arm and a leg to retrofit rain gathering facilities to an existing sand, but if they were to replace the stand, it would barely cost any different - hence new builds being the ideal opportunity to work this sort of thing in.
As for the "enviro-mentalists who don't like to see progress" comment - that's wonderful irony from a post arguing against utilising new technology.

Well unless we can see the cost-benefit analysis I suppose we'll just have to take your word for it. Energy-saving devices are fine so long as they are revenue positive, but they usually degenerate into a green sop with white elephants such as windmills and solar panels that will never be profitable without hugely inefficient subsidies from taxpayers (who end up paying more for energy as a result - lose lose).

Not able to get pictures but do go past at least 4 times per day and work did seem to slow down slightly last week when the weather was bad but again today it is pressing ahead at hell of a good lick. The central mound I asked about a few times seems to be being levelled and the stream/brook seems to being covered. Do hope the weather holds and that we get everything done and dusted as early as possible and then the work can start in earnest.

| Terrible PR on the project just received on Boots 'N' All. But i suppose that's to be expected from our lovely friends at Sky- in truth, if what was said is true and we never got to back them regarding the stadium then we really are shooting ourselves in the foot in terms of making people aware.

Couldn't agree more mate, that's a shocker, we really don't help ourselves do we!
On another point regarding Sky, did you notice they didn't mention us (with the exception of Broughton) for our win at Bradford, it was [iorr poor old Bradford![/i

| JJ they did reports on Sts new stadium udate + interview with a board member at the club & also discused Wakey & Cas stadium merger with an interview with a cas board member + both sets of fans.
Eddie then remarked that Salford were asked but didnt get back to them.
What fans have to realize is, it is not OUR stadium to make statements about, it will belong to the community & Peel who have a joint venture, so therefore, it is up to them to make any statements, not the club.

They ran a feature on St Helens' new stadium and on the proposals for a Wakey/Cas groundshare. At the end of that they said that if there's any Salford fans watching, they aren't ignoring Salford; they asked Salford for information for a feature and the club didn't get back to them after saying it would. Great.

What the club has to realise is that Sky are the paymasters and that Boots n All is the sport's main magazine show. If the club do not wish to a) look stupid, b) look lazy, or c) look like they are trying to cover something up, then they themselves need to either get the best information they can from Peel and the Council to give to Sky, or at least get some sort of statement to them - Not give the impression that they've done nothing. Whilst it may well not be a stadium built and owned by Salford City Reds let's not pretend that it's absolutely noting to do with the club, without them nobody would be building a stadium and a plot of contaminated land in the city would continue to lie unused.
