I don't know how you could write those thing's and actually believe they make sense or are true for that matter. Had we had someone turn up to JW and say " I'm mega wealthy - I can clear your debt - plough millions into the club, and I'm passionate as well" Then as JW said himself, he would hand the club over, but the problem is we haven't. So that leaves us with JW. Now if you took JW out of the equation (as DI advises) and realistically tried to run the club and make a profit we would possibly be sitting in the 2nd or 3rd division. However JW being a proud Salfordian has decided along with the board that Salford need to remain in SL to become bigger and better, but with this come's the debt, which JW and the board have footed..

I really don't get what's hard to understand about that. No JW - no Super League. Probably no Barton. Now DI insist's we need a clear out from the very top because of how poorly the club is run, now does he make that assumption from us (i)being a yo-yo team or does he make that assumption (ii)on the past couple of week's when MP left, or doe's he make that assumption based (iii) on personal feeling's ?.

Either way he has not once been constructive. He's simply spouted incorrect rumour's based on how he think's JW run's the club, and been vile about him in the process. DI really gets me on the "keeping the club afloat" one.... err isn't having a club to support the main point...especially in SL....have you really just said that!!! He genuinely believes the club is in debt directly because of JW - he doesn't seem to grasp that to operate a club at SL level you need a massive fan base and generally allot of money, obviously good players who demand big wages allso, he doesn't JW has simply funded this journey making some mistakes along the way. I think I follow you. That was funny if nothing else. I've explained everything the best I can. I don't hate someone because they don't agree with me, but I do grow to dislike people when they can't follow logic and truth.. I am growing a little tired of DI's stuttering and headache inducing posts. A lot of people have turned right off the Turkey due to the lack of reasoned discussion in favour of keyboard bell-endery.

Well said and I agree with all the reasoned comments on here so far. I think another thing to bear in mind about the last 29 years, and something you alluded to in your post Butcher, is that DI seems to think that JW took over this club when it was in rude health both on and off the park at the end of the Snape era, when in fact the club was already in terminal decline with a chairman (Keith Snape) who had no money to invest (to replace the likes of Watkins, Fielding, Hesketh, Dixon, Coulman, Nash etc. who were all getting old together) and no real appetitie to carry on.

JW came in with a little more money and a lot more passion but quickly realised that our glory days were well and truly over and that the best we could hope for was to make ourselves as competitive as we could whilst making sure the club :3lx556vesurvived. I, like many others, am frustrated with some of the shambolic marketing and administrative gaffes that the club seem to be determined to be experts in. Howewver, this does not mean that the Chairman has not achieved something remarkable in comparison to other clubs that we should benchmark ourselves against (because they broadly fall into the same category as us in that they were successful in the past but then fell on hard times) over the last 29 years and those probably include Oldham, Castleford, Wakefield Trinity, Dewsbury (yes, Dewsbury who won the old first division back in 1972/3), Featherstone Rovers and Hull KR - now look at that list and tell me that both on and off the field JW hasn't performed well as a chairman when compared to those clubs.

I wasn't going to bother posting on this thread because most of what's been said in response to those criticising JW has been well thought out and balanced but I did think the point above was missing and was worth making. I now await DI's ill-thought out and vitriolic response.

Even though I made the above post, this needs to be corrected: JW does not know me from Adam. He does not know my e-mail (currently not working), phone numbers or address: I do not tweet nor facebook. He could not contact me to do this if he tried. Also I am no lapdog: 30+ years trade union activity should prove that. I do not do any boss's dirty work for anyone.

I was there in the 70's: well before then, to be honest. I am grey haired and bearded and remember the arrival of the Snape brothers. I also remember those scenarios that "Always behind the sticks" remembers.
I was involved in Town Team Rugby in Oldham when the Oldham Bears went under: so many fans said to me how much they admired JW and envied our having him as a chairman.
I have spoken to two of the ex-coaches referred to and they cannot praise JW enough: both were sacked by him. Ex-player after ex-player tell me how much they admire this man. I take their opinions before yours. They are what the legal trade refer to as expert witnesses.

The fact is that we have been performing as a business above what we should have been for many years. That is down to JW.

He's made errors but who hasn't.

Without him, Salford would have been a minor club of part-time amateurs playing in Division 2, if we were lucky.

If the player had any grievance against the Club then he should have followed the correct Legal process. As he didnt then I would guess that he didnt have a leg to stand on. You seem too reliant on Bar Room Gossip/Fishwife Tales which are completely without substance.

JW is 67 and we have a 3 year Franchise. If I was advising the lad I would suggest he pulls the plug now instead of 2014 & let us go into Administration.
