| Quote ="theredshed"I 'm sure people will find their way there but it's not ideal to have only 90-100 spaces for a new stadium of this capacity. I noticed there are large sponsors lounges and private boxes, where are all your corporate customers going to park? A club sponsor expects a parking spot with the sponsorship package. Surely most of your parking will be taken up by the home & away directors, players, match officials, staff and disabled spaces etc. Please don't interpret this as a dig your stadium looks very impressive and is fantastic for RL and I welcome it. I was just highlighting an issue where the ideal situation would be to have more parking next to the ground.
For your info the parking at Barton is for 650 cars not 500 plus there will be several coach spaces for away supporters. I heard the plan was to also run shuttle buses from the Trafford Centre. Further to this the Peel Green residential area is literally a 5-10 minute walk.'"
I agree with you that it would have been better to have more car parking spaces, if only for the corporate dollar than anyone else. However lack of car parking spaces doesnt appear to affect football clubs or RU clubs in getting the prawn sandwich brigade to watch their respective sports.
It would not surprise me if there becomes a demand from the corporate sector, that Saints enter into an agreement with Tescos or someone else close by, to utilise some of their car parking spaces, probably for a small fee of course.
The actual car park has 91 regular spaces and 57 disabled spaces, along with two coach spaces for visiting teams.
This is not including space for the TV vehicles. I understand that in none TV matches this opens up 34 more car parking spaces.
Back to Salford. If they do run shuttle buses from the Trafford centre that will be fantastic. Hope the trafford centre allow this, as i do think it would encourage families to do a bit of shopping and then go the RL.

| I personally think the article confirms what I've said for a long while that two professional rugby clubs under one roof would be a good thing. You wouldn't need the same amount of staff on the clerical level and surely a shared training and academy program would be more cost effective.
I know some don't like the idea because it's RU as I would hate the club to tie in with football but in the long run think that the council will have the final say and can any of us say that all year round use isn't going to be better for the council to make a profit from the stadium?

The sooner the stadium can break even the sooner SCR will be able to make money out of it , either by reduced rental or shares of income streams , what you have to ask yourselves is what damage could they do to your potential fan base or corporate support , or what benefit you could draw from their support , both fan and corporate , personally I'd say it's a no brainer , it would make the stadium more financially viable

| I drove past the stadium yesterday, looks to be coming along pretty well. When is it due to be finished?
Strange looking thing at the moment with one big stand and 3 small ones.

Is that for the stadium alone or the whole development?
From the artist's impression posted by CM, the fans appear to be quite close to the action, which is a good thing, and although your corners are still open, the roofs are low on three of the stands which will really help with atmosphere.
Are you all excited about it? Or do you anticipate missing the old place?

I'd say Salford will be pretty safe from losing your place in super league.
Quins, cas, wildcats and the welsh have more to worry about IMO.

It seems the rumours about Sale also playing at Barton could be true after all. Apparently Steve Diamond from Sale mentioned it on ESPN sports in an interview with Austin Healey.(See forum link below) I know some people are for and some are against it but from a financial aspect it doesn't surprise me if Man U reserves aren't going to be playing there. In defence of the club the decision isn't their's but I can't see them being too disappointed about having to share the stadium management costs.

| I agree that the stadium needs to be shared to spread the costs but I do not trust Sale Sharks in the slightest bit after what they have done to Stockport County. I work in Stockport and the things I hear are very bad.
I think it would be much better for you if you got one of City or Utds reserves playing there and let Swinton use it on alternate weekends to you in the summer.
If Blackburn Rovers can use the LSV effectively from such a distance could you not get Bolton or Wigan reserves in there?
I'm a RL fan through and through and I really don't want the same happening to you as what's happened to Stockport

| Don't Sale (through Brian Kennedy) have control of Stockport's ground? The situation would be different at the Salford stadium, where control would lie with the City of Salford.
I still wouldn't want sale there, though. Union seems to destroy pitches. Look at Headingley in the early part of the rugby season. The union team had ruined it.

Unless of course Brian Kennedy attempts to purchase the ground off the joint partnership. Could Salford Council afford not to have a large amount of cash ( with profit) go into their bank account?

Does it make any sense for any club to own their own ground these days? Having read about the financial situation at Sale I doubt very much they would be in a position to make such a huge purchase like this. It stacks for the Council and Peel to build the stadium because:
1. They own the land.
2. The retail on the site would help fund the stadium cost.
A stadium isn't like a residential of commercial property that can be purchased as an investment and sold for a profit. Who would want to buy a stadium? It's an extremely limited market isn't it.

I was referring to the article in the Telegraph that said Sale were currently losing 1.5m a year, with shareholders supporting these losses.
