Well new fans generally aren't interested to start with are they? Its all about the overall experience so if someone goes to a game and gets totally outraged stuck in traffic for one half hours there going to think twice about driving again, an as their new and not that bothered to start with there not going to go out of their way and find an alternative way of getting to the game.

| I would second that and ask are we keeping the away support from coming as well?
Teams are not taking many people to this new stadium.
The willows always seemed well populated even if we were sometimes surrounded by more away fans than home supporters.

photo from tonights United Spurs U21's football game.
Free entry , too many turned up for the East stand so they allowed fans in to the West stand aswell , 2,700 I estimated .
people were allowed to turn up and pay to park . there was far more cars on the main Car Park & gravel parking by the training pitches than you would get on a Salford Game.
after the game they were holding up cars in the tarmac parking but cars on the gravel parking were leaving straight after the whistle. Funnily enough no one was fussed about the parking arrangements
United won 1 -0 , and on a lighter note there was a floodlight failure just before half time as the national grid plunged Peel Green into darkness

| As I've said, this 40-90 min wait on the carpark business is an absolute exaggeration/rumour made up by people who have some sort of problem with the new stadium. Wether that's because they're crap at navigating carparks or because they're scared of change from the willows I don't know but it has to stop because it's just fueling the rumour.

| One big problem was actually getting on to the car parks at the stadium,Advance booking of car park space now seems to have been done away .you can now pay on the day for Salford games.

Read what he said, they were hold people in the tarmac car park up, last year it was only towards the mid to back end of the season they through together that temp car park, before that we were either lumbered on the Tarmac or the bit of gravel behind the Tarmac, it's ok when there's only 2000 fans leave but when you get 6000 like we did last year it's a ball ache!

| I thought this post was about info on the new roads.
Not about getting out of the car parks, which, we all know about

| I think the message we need to promote is that the situation is totally different from last season.
You can now pay on the day and the stewards are more organised and working to better instructions.
Nothing like last season at all.
Far better

| New roads are needed.
I drove to the Wigan friendly game prior to last season and it took 55 mins to get off the car park. Been twice since for the league games and parked both times at Eccles RLFC. Far quicker to walk from there.
It used to take 55 mins from the Willows to home so I wasn't impressed with what went on.
I do think that when new roads are in place to make exiting easier the far more people will attend games than now.
Your good Dr can talk all he wants about raising the cap but he's got to raise the crowds as well.

| The new road will make traffic flow better around the area, and egress will improve because it looks though there may be two road exits from the car park as opposed to one, but there will still be limited parking close to the stadium, and as the site develops, it will get more limited.
A metrolink extension into the site would be a massive boost, but is probably at least a decade away.

| There's plenty places to park around Peel Green or Brookhouse and it's a 5-10 minute walk. The only people who should be parking on the stadium car park are people with walking disabilities or health problems, players, match officials, club directors or corporates who leave an hour or so after the game. If people want to be bone idle and then moan about being sat in slow moving traffic that's their own self inflicted problem.

| One thing that is glaringly obvious about the location of the stadium is the lack of pubs and take-aways en route. However, I think the Reds have done a great job in marketing the 'fans bar' inside the stadium which works out great because the money is being put back into the club rather than Holts', JW Lees etc.
If someone opened a chippy on Liverpool road they'd make a small fortune... even if they only opened on match days!

Not sure I fall into any of those categories, other than possibly bone idleness, and call me old fashioned but surely the ability to drive to the ground, park up and walk in is the preferred option.
I could do that at the Willows so not to do it here would be a backward step.
Far more importantly, the Clubs aspiration is to attract many new fans and they won't want a long walk in p***g rain.

Get the team winning and challenging for silverware and a lot more will come regardless of parking proximity and traffic issues. I wonder how many would whinge about having to walk down Wembley way?
My Grandad once told me he used to walk a 12-mile round trip to watch Salford in the 1930’s.

Whilst I agree to an extent, and my massive dislike of queuing means I'd never consider parking at the stadium for a game (If I drive I park a 15 minute walk away and I'm home in 30 minutes), you have to think that if we're targeting people from across Greater Manchester who are not familiar with the area they are going to want convenient parking (at least while they get familiar with the area) that's not going to leave a sour taste from their first experience.

The club doesn't get the money from the fans bar sales, the Stadium Company do (unless we've negotiated something better since the start of the season) - though it would if the club gets a stake in the stadium. As for a chippy, I can recommend the one behind the Unicorn.

| Surely it's public transport links that need to be created as well? Who wants to drive to a game really? It's about having a few scoops with your mates isn't it? As i've already stated on here in the past, Bolton Wanderer's car park used to be an absolute pain to get off, but after a couple of seasons they learned how to manage it and now it's fine. But added to this they have 40 ish match busses every game which are always pretty full, serving about 10 different routes. I think they charge £3 return from anywhere along the route.

The question that needs to be asked is not what suits the existing 2000.
It's not what the existing 2000 feel new supporters should put up with.
And it's certainly not what was good enough in the last century.
We are looking at new supporters.
These days some people want to park at the ground and, like The Reebok,it's much improved at our stadium.
But,some want to use public transport so that needs to be addressed.
So,which part do the Club need to get right ??
Every part.
Give them time and they will.
