| Do fans want Myler to go?
He is a young impressionable guy & with money that is being offered to him he probably thinks he's won the lottery. If rumour is true & he is being courted by "the Warrington money men" then his head will be turned, especially if Offiah is also filling his head with all HIS bulls##t, which comes down to money for Offiah's £%%
If Myler is undecided & he hears Salford fans saying "let him go if he wants" that may make his mind up, but, if Salford fans start chanting for him to stay, who knows??
A player like Myler comes around once in a fans lifetime of watching your team & as my other half states, He has waited 30years to see someone like Myler play at the Willow's again & we fans shouldn't let him go without a fight.
If he really wants to go, so be it, & good luck to him, but as Martyn Sadler wrote in his column this week, it doesn't always work by moving , just remember Danny Orr, fantastic at Castleford, crap when he went to Wigan.
We all think it is Offiah who is causing this unsettling with Richie, if it happens & the club say it was his influence, then Offiah should not be welcome at the club & the fans should voice their anger at him, not at Richie Myler.
So, what do you all think, we should get behind Richie & let him know the fans want him to stay.

| I'm indifferent.
But only because I realise that the lad has to make the most of a short career (Even if you stay injury free) I don't blame him for that, and he has shown that he has ambition by cutting loose from Widnes when the poop hit the fan over there to come to us. Another rung on the ladder has been opened-up for him and I'd be surprised if he didn't take it.
As much as we would love him to be loyal to our club if you look at it from his point of view, it could be a risky venture sticking with us. All he needs is a dip in form and/or a long-term injury and he would be forgotten as quick as he has risen. Saying that, a transfer brings with it pressure of a different kind and statistically the majority of 'next big things' tend to slip on their s and are cast-off into the mists of obscurity.
As for getting behind him, I don't see why not. He is still a Salford Player as it stands. It wont make one iota of difference to his decision anyway, I would personally just get behind the team as a whole as they have proved that Salford is not just the Richie Myler show.
Show the rest of them some loyalty yourselves and show them what we think of them as a team beyond the media-frenzy surrounding Myler...

| I think we'd be best to let him go if I'm honest.
If he stays... and continues to be as good as he has been and maybe better... we will probably be left with a Ronaldo situation before he went to Madrid in the fact that there will always be speculation as to when he is going to leave for bigger and better things. That is likely to unsettle both player and club in the long term... so if he signs a 3 year contract that isn't going to mean anything. All it will mean is that for the next 18 months he'll be raking in a lot more money, and then the speculation will be rife again... with 18 months left of his current contract people are talking about him going now... so why perhaps triple his wage for the next 18 months just to be in the same position again in 18 months time... having spent a lot more money that just keeping him on what he's earning now. Lets just say this....
(Based on estimations)
He's on £50k per year now.
He'll pick up £75k in wages before he leaves (18 months wages).
We let him go at the end of his contract and pick up perhaps £20k
The next 18 months will therefore cost us £55k (wages minus fee)
on the other hand...
We offer him £150k per year for 3 years now. This would start immediately.
Over the next 18 months he'll earn £225k... a difference of £150,000 to end up exactly where we are now with a ton of speculation. Is it worth it ?
We then continue to pay him £175k for the remaining 18 months with him unsettled again because everyone wants him.
He goes for free.... leaving us having paid £450,000 over 3 years as oppose to letting him go now with a transfer fee... or releasing him at the end of his current contract.
Is having Myler for the next 3 years worth £395,000 more than letting him go at the end of the current contract ?... or raking in a good wedge of cash now with a fee?
Another thing... if there is any doubt in a players mind that he may want to play somewhere else... I don't want them. If Myler wants to leave... no amount of chanting will keep him as he's such a confident player... he'll believe that they'll chant his name wherever he goes... only there will be more people doing it. We are lucky to have Ratchford who many believe is the better all round player... and it seems that he WANTS to be here.
Don't get me wrong... if he's stays then we will get some benefits ... if he doesn't... I'm not bothered. First and foremost I prefer the club to survive rather than pay out heavy ransoms on players... because after all... that's what is happening here... we're being held to ransom.

| Granted I'm not bother either way about Myler and sick of hearing about him but I would like something answered.
With Myler still being under contract till the end of next season is it legal that Offiah is touting him out to other clubs, is that not a breach of contract?
Personally I'd just not sell him, keep him for the rest of his contract and then deal with it, it gives us time to find a replacement.
By then there will be another new superstar and he'll be happy to get another contract with us.

Shirley, I cannot understand how any fan would want Richie Myler to leave the club and if he does turn out for us again all the fans should get behind him for as long as he is with us as he has done nothing wrong apart from linking up with an agent who appears to have no scruples.
As for Martin Offiah, the least said the better as his conduct with regards Richie Myler is on a par with some of our MPs the only difference being that the MPs could hide behind the fact that they were acting within the rules whereas Offiah is definately not.
The RFL should investigate his conduct in this affair and if he has broken the rules everyone should be informed about what has gone on and just who has been involved in the matter and the RFL should take any action deemed necessary.

| Foot injuries can be a bu%%% to fix. My son has had a problem with his for over 3 months.
As for Myler, I have thought that he would be better here until he is 23 (not for us moneywise) then move on.
If he or his agent decide he would be better elsewhere I hope he remembers what we told him at FR reds meeting and does it with dignity like Hodgy.

| Im sure us the fans will support the team if he wears the red shirt again.
We gave him the best offer of a contract we could, and his represenative turned it down, we cant go any higher so its up to Mr Myler himself, be the boss and decide your own future or be pimped around to the highest bidder.
If/when he plays for us again we'll know straight away if his head/heart is in it, yes players give 100% every game because their proffessional yadda yadda yadda but you can tell by the little things they do like:
1) If they miss a tackle players sometimes lye there and watch the move unfold sometimes they make a half d effort to get up, switched on and committed the'd scramble to their feet and try and run back.
2) When they dont have the ball or arnt involved in a move they mince around in back play, switched on and committed they look alert and ready if a offload or a 1/2 chance is created.
Myler has shown 100% commitment to the cause imo before this warrington transfer sarga erruped by being busy all the time, we'll know if he wants to stay.
I hope he does for the sake of Richie Myler, us and Rugby league in this country, the boy is still learning his trade at the top level and needs time to develop he'll get the chance with us.

| I dont really think it is up to us shirl. Iam sure a majority of fans want him to stay, as even if we get the money that is being bantered about who do we buy? no big name player will want to come to us. I think it is about time that myler came clean about where he wants to be and stop hiding behind offiah. If he wants to go then be it sooner than later and lets all move on.

I only want players at this club who want to be here.
In all fairness havent heard anything from Myler during this circus and all the talking is coming from Offiah. We do know the club have offered him the chance to become the highest paid Salford player ever, which was rejected.
There is only so much we should do before we wash our hands of him and wish him the best of luck for the future and concentrate on finding a suitable replacement. If he wants to stay then I would be made up, but the noises coming from Myler's camp suggest he wants out.

' Bank ' as they say in the weakest link , spend any proceeds securing the long term futures of our other young prospects or signing more.
If the reported ' best contract ever offered to a Salford Player isn't encouragement enough, no amount of chanting is going to altering his decision what ever that may be.
Anyway never though Mike Gregory played his best Rugby for us, God rest his soul

| No one is bigger than the club, even if he is a good player he still needs good players around him. To be honest if the lad turned around and said he wanted to move to have a better chance of winning things then good luck to him, cos hes not gonna win with us, maybe not at Wire but at least their board, sponsors etc are making the right noises and signing players to have a better chance than us.
If he is that good maybe we should have a whip round to boost his offer from wilky and co.
Seriously if the club thinks Myler is that good an asset to our future, they should find the money, cos from what i have heard the differecne between us an Wires offer is £20,000 a year sorry but thats nothing and if he goes for that difference then the club is really going no where

20K to a club like Salford is a lot.
Who doyou think will pay his wages ?Certainly not our attendances.
We just can not afford to spend a large amount on one player and Offiah knows this, hence he is offering Myler to all and sundry and telling them what Salford have offered
Do you honestly think Warrington would not up their offer if we offered more.
He is off,get used to it.

I think the media circus around it and how often it is discussed have made it this way. People are quite frankly bored with it now. When we look at this calmly most people would prefer it if he stayed and we built the team around him and Ratchford. They are a fantastic prospect as a pair and I would rather keep them both. However, all the hype has caused fans to grow tired of it. At the Saints game I heard someone shout "f*** off Myler we don't need you". This is what Offiah has done to the lad. He was everybody's hero a few weeks back now people just think he should leave. It is now the time for Myler to stand up and be counted. He needs to come out and say he wants to play for Salford. If he doesn't then I'd rather he went. As someone has said stop hiding behind his agent. He may be only young but he is old enough to vote, drink, get married. He is surely old enough to make his mind up as to where he wants to play his rugby. All I ask of him is to pull his tripe out until the very last time he pulls off that red shirt. With an England spot up for grabs I don't see him pulling a Robinson or a Coley. Lets just get it over with as the specualtion is not good for the club.

As you point out, we've had no indication of any kind that Myler doesn't want to play for us. Rejecting a contract offer is not automatically the same as saying he doesn't want to play for Salford.

I do agree with the points raised here about Myler coming out from behind Offiah. It's perfectly correct that Offiah should be acting for Myler and advising but ATEOTD Myler needs to make his own decision and that doesn't seem to be happening.
Honestly, if Myler goes because we let him rather than because he wants to then we'll be all be talking in twenty years about what might have been. We should be doing everything possible to keep him.

Thats what he pays Offiah to do, Offiah takes all the treatment of everyone pointing and booing and hissing at Offiah while myler just settles down and plays rugby, its eather Offiah has this strange power over Myler and tells him where and who he is playing for in the future even tho Myler is the man who makes it all happen but if he doesnt go along with it Offiah will pull out a dodgy picture and ruin his career forever or Myler wants to go but he himself doesnt want to upset anyone, so he's painting Offiah as this ogre who is forcing him to go to make a money for himself that way he'll leave the club on good terms we'll all blame Offiah and we probably wont even boo him when he completes his hattrick which knocks us out of the challenge cup quarterfinal someday.

If you think Myler has nothing to do with the decisions being made over his future you are a fool. All this "Leaving it to the Agent" talk is just a way to divert uncomfortable questions from the media. It also serves to take the heat away from him and onto Offiah.

| Myler's Reds contract vow...
SALFORD CITY REDS teenage sensation Richard Myler has stated this week that his head has been spinning following all the reports linking him with a move to Warrington Wolves.
But the good news for Salford is that Richard Myler has insisted that he still has a job to do for Salford and hopefully he will be passed fit to play this comic weekend against Celtic Crusaders.
In today's Manchester Evening News in an interview with Mr Neil Barker Myler is quoted as follows: "I HAVE A JOB TO DO FOR SALFORD - I'M UNDER CONRACT AND THAT'S WHY I SIGNED A THREE-YEAR DEAL"
"TO BE HONEST, THE FOOT INJURY I'VE HAD HAS BEEN SOMETHING OF A BLESSING BECAUSE IT'S KEPT ME AWAY FROM THE SPOTLIGHT."
"AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THERE ARE NO MAJOR DECISIONS FOR ME TO MAKE AS I AM CONTRACTED TO KEEP PLAYING FOR SALFORD."
