I think a few clubs will be watching developments at with the halfbacks, especially if Chase or Sneyd become available.

It's ironic that we're asking our owner to stop making knee-jerk reactions, but we find ourselves ousting Chase after a handful of poor performances.

I would play Chase at #9. As a main pivot, although capable of producing moments of genius to much breaks down because of him and others not reading what he is going to do. I think the hooking role would suit him.

I'm assuming that Smith's mystery condition is going to prevent him being on the clubs books next season. If not Chase, Sneyde, Smith & Dodson doesn't make sense.

I think you make a very good point. A good half back organises the team and gets you around the field. Rangi is a talented individualist in spells but it's clear we are lacking a Matty Smith type figure to make us tick. If I had a choice between our current halves and Dobson and Sneyd I know who I'd want.

I don't think it's any coincidence how Castleford have improved as a team and are showing consistency since Rangi left. Chase would be better as an impact 9.

You dont have someone like Chase on the bench. I could see Chase working as a centre and I agree Dobson and Sneyd would get the team round park and kick the life out of teams.

If we sign dobson then Smith and Chase aren't both going to be here next season IMHO.

The non fed quota does still apply to us and we're going to need to let people go.

Locke, chase, smith, dobson, sau, tasi, McPherson, puletua, rapira, mullaney... There need to be concessions somewhere.

That's not counting our supposed ongoing interest in green & we'll probably be looking at strengthening our front row.

Some of those players are going to have to make way and I can't see us keeping three overseas halfbacks.

I don't think Rangi has the size or pace to play in the centre. He's being targeted in the line by the opposition now, play him centre and he'd be an ever bigger target.

Anyhoo, it might be a mute point (which means we can't talk about it), because word on the street (YetAnotherRumour Street, that is) is that Darrell Goulding will be joining for 2015. Treble his current salary is the going rate for players from Wigan.

Yeah I would but until we sign another one I'd rather try Hock in the centres than Gleeson. My thinking with Chase is that he is quite pacy and as we all know he can unlock a defense with one moment of magic. That said I'd love to sign Goulding as is still quality and wouldn't cost the earth (apart from the pies obviously).

Lets build a team with specialists played in the correct position.

Do you honestly think Chase is a good half. IMO he is too much of a maverick. Fans remember the good things he does but if you watch him carefully he causes far more moves to break down than creates opportunities. He struggles to play a structured game as it simply doesn't suit him. I think he would make a very effective #9

He might not be the ideal half back but will playing him out of position improve the team?

Like many half backs he doesn't have the defensive capabilities to play at hooker not sure he has the work ethic either.

If he ain't good enough get rid and get someone who is.

My argument is I think #6 is not his best position. Many players move positions over the course of their careers. Lockyer was a bloody good #1 but matured into a better #6 for example.

Lockyer is a different class of player. Just because you think isn't a great 6 won't make him a great 9 either.
