Is this for real? does it mean that there is no salford rugby club

Salford City Reds Rugby League Club Just spoke to the Chairman. It is over a very small amount of money and is being dealt with. The Club have brought people in to sort it out and it will be. /Paul

Steuer Greggson are the company named as the creditors. Were these the management company Salford brought in to help out with the running of our club!? Stirling job if it is.

I'm sure someone can explain this better than me, but winding up petitions usually come about when a company is not receiving money it is owed by another company and as a last resort they apply to have the company either pay up or be wound up. We had another one earlier this year from HMRC if memory serves - the tax bill was paid, and the winding up petition is dropped.

You are spot on, however the "dash" for a winding up order usually indicates a hard-nosed company, usually there will be a few solicitor's letters first, once the normal payment terms have been exceeded. As this one is from Steuer Greggson Limited, the clubs own consultants it does certainly cause the eyebrows to raise a tad!!

There can of course be many reasons that a company doesn't pay up - products or services not delivered or not of the agreed quality being probably the most common and consultancy firms have little to bargain with so tend to take recourse in such actions rather more quickly than other companies.

Legally, does it matter that the name of the company bringing this petition against the club is spelled wrong on the notice?

Sure the RFL and SL will be loading vans with bags of cash as we type before hot footing it over the Pennines to bail you out ala Bradford.

If not, WHY NOT? Cos that would stink to high heaven and smack of double standards if you ask me, are the RFL saying Salford are not as important as Bradford? People keep telling me the RFL are not bent or biased, time will tell.

No one has suggested it is a tax bill. We're all fully aware that it isn't a tax bill. Iain was just using an example of a previous petition brought against the club.

Those who have been going for 5 minutes and have a pop at anybody with a realistic view as oppose to just thinking that everything Salford is wonderful.

I wonder what a multi-millionaire's definition of a 'small' amount of money is?

Nobody takes you to court over a small amount of money least of all your advisor and sponsor, in this case Steuer Gregsson but it would seem in this instance that is the case.

This is a real shame if it causes the loss of one of our Rugby League clubs and i really do mean that.You would hope the RFL come in with some package to assist Salford just as they have Bradford. It could well be a blessing in disguise if the petition goes through and the club is liquidated as at least it gives any new owner a blank canvas to work with.

I have a number of good friends who loyaly watch your club and I trust it gets sorted out for there sake as much as anything else.

It hasn't been forgotten that last season the Salford club gave us a base from which we had our most sucessful season in years, so i do wish you club all the best.

Indeed - I would expect that the rfl give the same assistance to Salford as they have to Bradford. I really cant see how they can do anything else tbh- without losing every scrap of credibility that remains. So no players to be sold and help with wages. Hopefully this will encourage the supporters to come out and buy tickets etc.

Shocking, the club brings in a company to prepare for new investment and they in turn issue a winding up order, I'm guessing they've not been paid for the work they've done.

It really is shocking - I wish we as fans could set up a breakaway club or buy this lot out - Salford in the conference is better than no Salford.

This may not be for a large amount - but its the second one in the last 12-18 months (after the revenue brought one)

so it costs over 2K to initiate the court proceedings , the club has had a week to settle the claim but has chosen not to or was unable to .

so we're so flat broke we can't settle a ' small matter ' , or the club is disputing the monies owed to S.G..


the negative publicity is far worse damage than the money , in public confidence & credibility at a time when they should be basically collecting cash from season ticket sales ....
