| What is goin on in the shed, And dont give me all that about what have we got to cheer about , when only a few seasons ago it was buzzin and we wasnt winning nothin then and was as bad playing rugby as we are now, been goin in the shed for nearly 20 years and start a lot of the songs with a few mates, but now try and start summet and feel like im on my own .
The shed at salford was talked about at every rugby ground in rugby league as one of the most intimedating , but now its said the shed was quiet tonight lets give the players our shed back and our fans.

this is very true, unfortunately most of these numpties follow us on the road aswell, whilst hearing the initial hooter, they have usually been kicked out by the final one

| The whole atmosphere and experince at the willows now is rubbish! it's like the club cant be bothered anymore! Entertainment is rubbish, the mascot is a complete muppet and the guy on the mic is really boring! No wonder the crowds are dropping coz i get free season tickets and dont know if i can be bothered sometimes, nevermind having to pay 17 quid to get in!

| Agree wholeheartedly with Wardley red .having seen the actions of "fans"at Wigan and last week at warrington ,makes you ashemed to be a Salford fan.
Think the apathy shown from the board is finally trickling down to the fans

| Was unfortunate enough to be stood in front a group of "lads" who seemed only interested in how many times they could use the "C" word in a sentence. They also had a lively discussion on the geographical whereabouts of Wakefield, stopping mid-chant just to confirm with each other that Wakey were indeed on the other side of the pennines and therefore qualified for the sobriquet of " Yorkshire barstewards". The Shed is not the place it was. Why? i dont really know but would hazard a guess at a combination of poor rugby (style and content) losing a lot, disenchantment with stadium, Jeremy Smith, the coach blah blah blah...but also that it really all dosent really matter. No relegation has reduced the value of games to nothing beyond the 80 minutes of play. This was bound to happen im afraid and once it became apparent we were not play off material (about round four for me) then frankly the interest waned. At least the tension and mind numbing terror of relegation engendered an atmosphere in the Shed. Its a free season guys lets save our heart attacks and strokes for when it matters, which for me is not until the next round of licenses are given.

| It has been like that for years.
I can recall us playing London Broncos when there were more people on the pitch and they were the only ones creating any noise.
Currently, we are a very dull, boring, losing team with nothing to play for.

| The atmosphere of the Shed and on the road used to add to the match day experience. When the team didnt perform on the pitch the noise and pride of the fans still made you feel proud to be a Salford supporter.
As stated in above posts this is no more. On our past two visits to Warrington the atmosphere has been poor. I recall trips to Widerspool and the first two/three visits to Halliwell Jones when we made a lot of noise. The two visits in 2006 were fantastic days. I accept some of the views previously stated but in such a short space of time it is hard to comprehend why there is such a difference. I believe the contrast in fortunes between seasons 2006 and 2007 has affected us badly. After the play off season we had high hopes for the following season that Reds finally had a team to compete. The atmsophere around the club has not been the same since and even fantastic perfomances against Leeds and Saints this year has not managed to inspire anyone.

| We have played worse & still been more committed as fans, we have had worse teams but always got behind the team.
I have said before the reason for the apathy including myself is the empty promises over the last 10 years, same every season.
The club have set the agenda & the fans expect, the only way this trend will be reversed is if the stadium starts to happen, if not the fans will continue to drift.
I was there last night as I aways am; but I did not even cheer when we scored, I just went through the motions, it is a known fact as well that without the fear of going down we also have nothing to play for.

| I feel this post could be mirrored at other clubs in many sports.
Like going to pubs, using post offices, paying by cash etc. going to organised sport (unless its the fashionable few) is not being done by people over 25 and under 55. Result a skewed population in all of these.
Plus ca change.

| The shed is like it is because it is as lots of people have said now full of numpties.
They regard match day as a time to meet the rest of their Chav mates, get pi$$ed and then hurl abuse at the players and their mates and if they get into a fight then it is a plus.
They have no concept of what is going on on the pitch and would much rather invent pathetic songs, with no meaning at all and no relevance to Salford or whoever we are playing.
It is not the shed RIP it is Salford fan RIP

| Its a combination of old and new and a generation gap, The Shed will never have the atmosphere of the 80's and 90's ever again. Its full of a new PC brigade accompanied by ferel youths who have no respect for one-another never mind the game itself.
Whats missing now are the lads who initially started the shed army, those founder members are few and far between now, I remain one of them and have kept my position in the shed, (last night I was the only one left in the 2nd half) but like most I aim to give it up shortly. I feel sorry for the few younger lads in there who are actually interested, those who did witness the end of what once was a fantastic group of lads who stood together and created one of the best atmospheres in any sports stadia and I'm sorry to say you'll never get it back.
Once upon a time it was solely a sporting event (not a night out) where all the lads met up at a home game not having seen each other since the previous game, you'd know they'd be standing exactly where they were last game and you'd know you'd all be singing from the same song sheet again, the camaraderie was fantastic, its gone for good now but those were the days!

It still is for us at the Club end, but I have noticed that recent performances and the weather has meant me putting more money into the club via the bar.
Back in the early 80's about 20 of us used to stand on the north stand and then go in the club afterwards on the prowl, so I have always treated sport as a social night/day out.

And back then we played on a Sunday afternoon, I too would go back in the club after the game however the bars closed at 6!

That another really good (but still somewhat depressing) post.
I don't stand in the Shed anymore because I now have a young family who are keen to come to matches but not up to standing in there.
That's been the cases for the last year or two, but I decidedly get the feeling that I got out of The Shed at the right time.
I used to look back at the Shed with fond memories and slight envy; now I look back at it with disdain.

I'm too young to remember the switch from Friday nights to Sunday afternoons - what kind of effect/impact did it have?

Bigpev thinks the switch started mid-eighties but I'll still stand by my thoughts of the whole of the eighties up until very recently it was Sundays, might be an age thing though either from myself or Pev?
Anyway, I think the impact is as you see it now FL, the generation gap is massive. My old fella went all his life, 50's, 60's, 70's and so on and I know for sure that his generation would never have put up with the likes of some who go today! A sharp short clip around the ear would have sufficed. I don't believe there was any major impact to have affected the supporters who went then because of a change of day/night however now it just adds to an extra few hours of alcohol fuelled stupidity from our feral youths. Back to a Sunday any day for me!
I find no fault in you're reasoning for leaving the shed, like I posted previously I'll probably be doing the same.
