I am still pretty shocked and disapointed he was the first inductee to the hall of fame, let himself and the club down and his admission of drug taking when playing tarnished for me his playing record/reputation.
About time this was put to bed... If you read the book, he mentions drug taking within the context of its usage within the sport. Most of the substance abuse he refers to are the injections and pills handed out by clubs to keep a player playing, when the injuries and fatigue would normally mean having to be rested.
The book seemed to be more a catalogue of fights the Alker clan enjoyed than a Pete Doherty story.
