Quote ="Walshovski"Have Leigh said anything official about the game being cancelled?'"
Quote ="Leigh Journal (7 March)"Chairman Keith Freer has issued a statement:
"In accordance with the club's policy of honesty, integrity and transparency, I need to advise that the club again faces a series of issues which, if not addressed quickly, could affect the long term future of the club.
"The loss of the lucrative friendly with Salford and the adverse weather which affected the Swinton game has led to a cash flow problem over the next two months," said Freer.
"This, coupled with the poor attendances at the last two games, needs to be tackled quickly... The missing 400 fans need to be found and asked to support the club, by attending the home games," he continued.
"With only eleven home games left, a consistent shortfall of 400 will cost the club £44,000.
To that end, Leigh Centurions have launched the '400/20 Challenge'. Freer explained: "If we can secure 20 companies, each pledging £2,000, this would raise £40,000 so I would like to announce the ‘400/20 Challenge’ to all businesses in the town, to make the pledge. I know many will not be able to donate £2,000, but every pledge of £500 will help. I would ask all supporters to approach their employers and ask the question, ‘What are you prepared to do to secure the future of the club?’"'"

| It would be nice if we had a free weekend that we could play the fixture that was cancelled.
I am sure we will have players spare in a month or two.
To help Leigh and I prefer to watch salford at there ground anyway.
I miss the odd ball fixtures that happened pre-super league.
Rugby league seemed a lot more fun in them days.
When we had the 7s, county cups and other competitions.
Shame my lads dont get the same experience when they go with me now.

| Why are Leigh always getting into money troubles? They have done for as long as I can remember! And they wonder why they won't get in SL? Years of bad management I presume. However I do have a soft sport for Leigh and letters, when their next home match that doesn't clash with our? Would be good if a lot of us went to show our support. Agree about the friendly being rearranged as well, but would a club really rely on a friendly with Salford as critical income?
