| Quote ="dally messenger"wakey have seen a similar dip in crowds so there you go.
salford has a large population in its own right
sale has shown that even a sport as dire as union can get good crowds in manchester'"
Again you miss the point.
Sale last season or for many seasons has no other premier rugby union team within roughly a 60 mile radius, apart from when Leeds Carnegie make an appearance in the premier division.
Add to that that Salford dont have the luxury of being the only top flight league club within a 60 mile radius, nor even a 30 mile radius,to compare the two is idoitic.
Having attenended Sale games in a corporate capacity on a number of occasions, much of their support comes from the affluent areas of Cheshire.
Lets try and stick to your original comment regarding - a new stadium for Salford will enable expansion via Manchester
Im afraid none of your comments convince me that that will be the case.
The comment in it self is far too simplistic,as i have pointed out,if it was just a matter of putting modern facilities and top flight league close to or in a major city, then Why didnt it work in Sheffield!!!!!

Only a fool would say that Wakefield are cast iron certainties for a 2012 franchise right now, just as they would be if they were to say the same about Salford, Cas, Crusaders, Widnes, Halifax, Barrow, Toulouse, Stade and any other clubs you want to put into the mix.
As things stand today the only area of weakness in Wakefield's position is in relation to the stadium BUT things look far more positive on this front than they did after WMDC binned their own proposals for a stadium at Thornes Park.
As for proof of going to the Quins games - that's easily sorted as I'll no doubt have opinions to say about the games on here and I'm sure you'd enjoy being able to dish out a good amount of stick every week when you remind me on the same threads that I'm not watching my home town team. At the very least I'll have the financial outlay for a Quins season ticket while it won't actually cost you anything financially to restrict yourself to comments about the NRL & internationals.
You're right (for a change) in saying that there's all sorts of circumstances that can change for other clubs between now & D-Day, but equally there's plenty of things that can change to strengthen Wakefield's application without any other club's circumstances taking a negative shift.
There's a massive difference between highlighting the weaknesses in a club's position and saying that they're dead certs for missing out on a franchise, so if you have the belief in what you've posted previously you shouldn't have a problem in accepting the bet. If you don't actually have the belief in your posts about Wakefield's future in SL you should a) stop commenting about it; and b) start a new thread now to retract your previous posts on the subject. The choice is yours - the question is which will you choose?

I wouldn't even bother getting drawn into the discussion.
Overall Wakefield are in a much better position than at any time over any of the other SuperLeague years.
They are working on improving the weaker areas too, especially the Stadium.
That's good enough for me.
I'm not worried that we are in any way the obvious choice to lose a franchise, though we need to keep the standards up as others look to improve as well..

i enjoy talking about SL.
i really cant see how wakey avoid the drop but theres been quite a few surprises that i didnt see eg salford having problems with their ground like they have, celtics first year etc..
if nothing changes from today its you that goes.
why would wakey all of a sudden start growing when in all the years of SL theyve been in tehre they havent?
1 heartland club will go - salford, cas or wakey
wakey are the standouts unless salfords ground dies in the a&&e

teh news about council doing the funding was very positive.
even if plans get scaled back to a less fancy stadium thats fine with me.
salford wont get their ground next time, but as long as things are progressing theyll be given more leaway than cas or wakey because of their potential

crowds fell 15% of so for a team that came 4th.
your crowds are pathetic.
there are any number of championship clubs who could beat your crowds with a stable stint in sL.
looking at all the time wakey have been in SL, the club has gotten nowhere

it has always been similar since the inception of "summer" rugby.
In the 1996 season, Saints' first game was on the 4th February, (last game 8th September) - so the season has been extended by a month since the first year, but there has always been a large proportion of games played in Winter.

I'm beginning to think that the land "given" to the clubs by WMDC is a bit of a red herring. If the land is there to help both clubs secure funding for the new stadia, why did WMDC have to guarantee the loan that's been taken by Wakefield Community Trust to pay for the designs & planning application? Surely if the land was available as security this could - and should - have been used instead.
Clearly the banks (or at least the Co-op bank) must think that there'd be difficulty in realising their security over the land if the loan wasn't repaid or they wouldn't have asked for the guarantee from WMDC.
