We are more than likely going to have access to 2 (at least) good props, a centre and a winger most weeks if required as part of the duel reg agreement.

I hope that’s the case but what worries me is if we hit a few injuries and it comes to the business and of the season and those players we have relied upon aren’t available. That’s the downside of dual registration.

That's not really how it would work for us. Dual reg gets us past some injuries, but it gives you time to recruit a permanent solution at the business end.....whether that's a fixed loan or an actual signing.

But it's a reasonable test in a friendly to take good players off to see how the team can cover.
Franco was certainly weaker but with more time he can be good enough for Championship.

While I think Franco was solid on the wing it’s the second time I’ve seen him at full back and I’ll be happy not to see him play there again. He’s exclusively a winger on what I have seen which is unfortunate but at least he will step in and do a solid job on the wing if needed.

Daniel Hill is a full back and has been released by St.Helens but one thing that isn’t predictable is the Trinity signings and it’s probably more likely that Walmsley will become cover for Jowitt at full back than Franco…

I hope not. We lost way too much on the edge when Walmsley was moved to full back. Walmsley would be the last player I’d use as full back cover in the backs.

Me too, though Walmsley went off pretty quick after anyway.

I believe Walmsley went to full back for a matter of minutes and then doing a cover tackle copped a boot then Franco went to full back. All happened in a matter of minutes but there was a lot of changes which completely unraveled the team dynamics.

Unless Walmsley was chasing back but looked to me like he was full back for a short time.

Either way Walmsley should never be moved from the wing. Makes no sense to put your most potent weapon anywhere else.

I'm sure it will have been discussed who goes there if Max goes off injured, and if he has played there before, it partly makes sense. That said, I do agree that our potent weapon should be playing in his most natural positon.

To me it just comfirms that we need someone else in the squad who can play there well enough without losing quality elsewhere

Yes, I'm sure we need a back-up, specialist FB, but that wouldn't affect in-game rotations - you don't carry a spare FB in your 4 subs.

If we are going to have a back-up to Max, it needs to come from within those likely to be in the 17...so Franco, Walmsley seem the most likely candidates.

I think, in the Championship, we'd get away with it.

If Max has a period of missing a few games, we definitely need a more suitable in-fill.
