Seems a bit silly to me. Lets say he's fit, but not good enough to get into the team. That would mean he's not being paid at all? Which would then mean an unhappy Keith. There is that burden to play him regardless created by the pay as you play deal.

I would imagine there is a "basic wage" being paid to Senior but is only very small and then a potentially larger pay as you play element too.
As I understand it if Senior doesn't play at all then any wage or monies paid to him wouldn't count under the cap. I think the player has to take part in a "salary cap relevant" game for that players wage to count under the cap.
