Just coming out of the car park at the stadium and Ellis is Stood chatting with Minards and a couple more blokes , but had time to ask if we’d liked the luncheon club and waves as we pulled out . Not used to that type of interaction with the powers that be

Minards would have always done that.

Found John to be a very engaging type of bloke unlike Carter , but to get a wave off Ellis and a quick chat I thought was very nice

I’m hoping our next player/players are of equal or even better quality of Uele, who I think will go well. Mills said he wants a SL quality squad by the end of 2024 season at the prospect of going back up to SL. I think our team is still a fair bit of that still personally.

I like who we have signed so far, some are known quality, McGilvray, Thornley and Walmsley for example, and others have come with immense potential BUT another prop would be good - IMO a dominant pack gives the backs more scope and I think we're almost there in the backs.
I'm not sure about the half backs yet. I know Gale can do it and hope he does. Lino can but needs to be more consistent and I'm not sure about Lawford - probably he's ready to rip it up.
Personally, I'd have liked a couple of known and proven players who could lead the team, and still have the legs to do it, both in the pack and the backs.

This is potentially a number of players final years with McGillvary, Pitt’s, Ashurst, Gale, all above 34 and having a number of unproven players at SL level. Interesting times ahead!

Would be surprised if any of them are here for 2025....

With that said what better way to go out than winning a final or two and gaining promotion with a team. Who wouldn’t want to do that.

Players like Pitts, Ashurst, Gale are professionals and I expect they will maintain a good level of effort and fitness for next season.

To win the championship final may not be necessary for our return to SL but it does give us credibility to do so.

Think Mills spoke about getting players etc lined up for 2025, which is pretty exciting. The fact that Ellis mentioned about marquee players just boggles the mind compared to where we have been for decades.

You are right, but I think he was referring to the specific list of players, who are all older.
