Having seen them in the flesh in the last year along with NZ, Wales, Australia, Ireland and Scotland they have played the most attractive rugby I've seen, so again, your argument doesn't hold up. And to say they've played attractive rugby once or twice in decades is laughable and betrays your prejudices.

It's the opinion of most (if not all) match-going people I know where I live and work in Cardiff. I'd take the opinions of rugby people who have actually been to see the teams you mention in the flesh over yours.

I agree with Mugwump and all the England RU supporters I know share my opinion so your argument doesn't hold water either!

I've watched England yawnion for 45 years. i agree completely with Mugwump. Some of the most myopic, prejudiced, paranoid RL fans I know have stood in the same spot every other week for the same period. Attending games doesn't mean jack in this respect.

As much as those who like union would like to think so, mine (and others) dislike for the game isn't based in fear, being paranoid or feeling inferior. It's genuinely because I feel it's a poor product, the basic core skills arent of the level of RL and the format of the game, to me, isn't conducive to producing an entertaining game on the whole.

England games are generally full of negative play and a game of rugby where you'd elect to take a penalty goal when you're about 15 points down isn't a great indicator.

Agreed. I stopped watching it in the '70s because I could not bear watching such crap.

I agree with Seth who summed up my sentiments on the game pretty well.I will watch little bits of the up coming WC, mainly the semis and final as the southern hemisphere sides can be almost watchable but then That will be my fill of RU until 2019.

I watch it sometimes when I'm feeling a bit down, it has me in stitches seeing how rank bad awful they are, it's comedy gold, especially the fat lads wearing the baggy version of the kit to hide their bellies.

It's such a poor 'product' that it is watched for over 4 decades or coached by people who claim they don't like it. There is now nearly 80 pages of RL fans talking about all-things RU which is far more than any other RL-based topic on VT (which proves RL fans are more obsessed about RU than their own 'product') on a thread started by a RL fan who hated Union so much he paid good money for months to subscribe to BT to watch it.







There could be another 80 pages of obsessive posts about RU (and probably will be by the end of the RWC), no-one outside of RL fans gives a monkeys what you or anyone else thinks or posts about RU as a 'product' (apart from laughing at it as I do) so crack on

I was offering a reasoned response to the school of thought that league fans only 'dislike' union for the reasons I stated. You peddle your agenda that it's obsessive all you like but as a sport which crosses over with ours as much as it does its always going to be discussed, and of course the initial thread was started as a discussion about a former league star.

I never said those outside RL care about my opinion as to the merits of the 'product', I'm sure they dont. Keep scoffing at anyone who dare to not enjoy union and backing up your point with 'emojis' i find that always makes your posts sound mature and reasoned.

Or it proves this thread is about the WHOLE sport of RU and is covering all aspects of it.

whereas the threads on RL are about a CERTAIN PART of that sport whether it be a certain match, player, use of VR, signings for 2016, kits for next year etc.
