Yep, he does. That would be the London Broncos who pay rent to use someone elses stadium and have very few fans by comparison to the rest of SL........but who are currently solvent due to the generosity of our owner, David Hughes, who ploughs in the region of 1.5 million a year into the game in the south east and London and yet gets little or no support or thanks from the RFL.

When London go under, as I have no doubt they eventiually will BTW, we won't bleat on about needing support from the games governing body....support that in reality, if the game wanted to grow, should have been forthcoming at the birth of SUPERLEAGUE. Melbourne Storm are proof of the only way to fastrack expansion.

By the way....In a delicious bit of Irony, Mr Hughes is a Saldford lad. Maybe he should buy into them.....our previous owner has done wonders for Wigan

The New Salford could be called anything - Leigh, Fev, Fax, Toulouse, anything!!!

The New club would take up the contracts of those it wanted and release those it didn't. The LSV would be a great home for it and those players retained wouldn't have far to travel, for most it would be closer.

What everyone is failing to see especially the other Lancashire teams supporters is if Salford go that's another potentially big Rugby League club gone from our REAL county! Rugby league in the first place is a Yorkshire dominated small sport in the north, mostly made up from towns aswel, letting a team from a big city die will in future generations make an already RL shy area (MANCHESTER) completely lose touch with RL, I know Salford havnt excelled themselves in the past but that's only due to bad management from the board leading to bad performances on the pitch.
I believe if Salford were to achieve a decent level of success on the field the sporting public of mancheter would come and support it. Fans are fickle they don't want to see a team getting hammered week in week out that's why in the past 20 years the public of Salford and Manchester havnt taken an interest in RL. I personally blame John Wilkinson, some love him however I see his 30 year ownership as a way of having an old boys club for him and his friends, a nice little club for his family to profit from and a RL team to call his own, the fact is he's never tried to push us to the next level and has accepted us being a bottom table team just surviving. I find it quite interesting as soon as he sold the willows back in 2005 to Goldman and Watson homes he instead of investing the money into the team he decided to take out loans from private company's and city councils, sounds to me like he made his money and wasn't prepared to carry on putting money in, he only seemed interested in running the club until the willows went bust, now he wants to sell up? Why not try sell up 10 years ago when the club was stable?

Anyway back to the point Salford going wont just stop Salford locals keeping an eye on RL but but mancheter as a whole aswel, I live in Droylsden Manchester and everyone in the pubs around here and in Manchester know of Salford and will keep an eye on their results but won't go because thy wont waste there money on a club who at the moment don't have the aspirations on the field, under new management I think Salford can excl around Manchester with a winning team, WINNING being the vital Ingrediant, and to put to bed the comments about Wigan being Manchester, far from it people in Wigan arnt the same people and the Manchester public don't have any affiliation with Wigan as a place, if RL is to flourish in Manchester we need to have a Salford club with a decent team on the field not just a team propping up the SL table.

The Franchise farce has resulted in clubs owners looking at ways to ' tick boxes ' rather than genuinley grow their clubs, and the RFL have colouded in this nonsense as well , just to make the sport look stronger than it is, and to justify their decisions

With the structure that is in place for the Championship and its lack of sponsorship, there will never be the option of "swapping" a SL club for a CC club.
However, its all about success being rewarded and somehow the top club in the CC, deservers their chance.
Having said that, it is far from straightforward as the gulf between the two leagues, especially in terms of revenue is possibly too big for a promoted club to prosper.
