We are constantly being told by the SL apologists that SL is owned and run by it's member clubs and that all the Sky money belongs to them.

How is it then that, when the smelly stuff hits the fan, it's always the RFL who they go running to and who subsequently bail them out with money from central funding?

Surely the other members of the SL Gentlemans Club are sympathetic to their plight and would be only too willing to help finance them for the rest of the season.

The way things are going the ‘White Night’ will be able to pick the club up for next to nothing, what was the latest figure, £200k?

So the Administrator will have culled the bloated staffing dilemma, removed the unwanted players & wiped off the debt.

The new club keeps the cream of the crop, the supporters pay to get in for the rest of the season, as gratitude they’ve still got a club.

The RFL let’s them off with the loan under the Iconic status clause & reduces the rent ad infinitum.

Where does it say that the money is coming from central funding? The only comment in the press has been that the RFL are considering an advance on monies due to Bradford from SL funds. And the reason why it's the RFL that get asked is because the clubs delegated the administration of those funds to the RFL, along with all the other administrative duties.


Apart from my point above, nobody has ever made the SL chairmen out to be some collection of altruists. Quite the opposite in fact.

HMRC would have something to say about that scenario. As would many of the club's supporters, by the sound of it.

Ah! So the RFL can not refuse to give Bradford, or any other SL club, the money as it already belongs to them. It's like when Granny gives the kids £50 each for Christmas but the parents give it to the kids a bit at a time as they'd only spend it all. I thought the BOD's of RL clubs were a little more mature and responsible than that, or maybe not.

So basically the RFL are official bankers (no, that's not rhyming slang, or maybe it is) for Superleague, are they?

Not at all. I believe I've made my point albeit with a certain amount of facetiousness and cynisism. Unfortunately, the devious machinations of the RFL and SL tend to provoke this from me as with a great many others.

There is no one man running SL. For the umpteenth time.

The RFL and SL couldn't manage a 'devious machination' between them.

In answer to your earlier point, the money belongs to SLE Ltd. and is given to the RFL to distribute among the clubs who make up that organisation at any given time. There is a schedule of payments to clubs, although I'm not sure of the exact details of when and how many payments are normally made. Many clubs have received advances on this money from the RFL over the years, usually to tide them over a cash flow problem of one sort or another.

The RFL is under no obligation to hand over the cash early - particularly when Bradford's membership of SL is in some doubt going forward.

Seems someone may be trying to make money out of the situation by selling the name to them. Like they are in the financial position to do that!

Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story. By this time Nigel Wood had long since left the club and a group of supporters came in and basically had to clean up the mess that he had left. Despite the onfield record, for that season we were probably the best run club in the competition.

So a club cutting its spending to pay off debts and not spending what they dont have is discribed as being "appalling" by you.

Not being a Bulls fan, I dont know the ins and outs of the CC situation but, if you were going to "buy" a loss making business wqith huge debts, which would be the best way forward.

1) take on the loss making business with huge debts
20 take the business from the Administrator, with a clean slate and with much of the pruning having already been done.

It's fairly straight forward from a business point of view.
The one aspect that must really anny the hell out of the Fans, is the 500k that you were asked to raise, when in all probability, this same exercise could have taken place some months ago ?
For sure, any goodwill from the fans will be devalued but, on the plus side, it does appear that you will still have a team to support.
