Didn't realise editing a post so that it has no relevance whatsoever and ignoring the points made constituted a good argument, or even humour.

The relevance being that SL clubs are still raking the seabed of the NRL for their players. The NRL, or it's "retirees" are just as important to SL as the amateur game that Smokey trumpets so loudly. In the long term it is hoped that this will change and i think it will. It will be a damn slow process though.

I never said no players came from the lower leagues, thats just nonsense that you have made up in your head. Simply that the amateur game is the most important factor in us bringing through the players the game lives on. In comparison the lower leagues are less than secondary to that

It was ALL ABOUT MONEY, getting someone else to help develop his players and pay for the privelage, hanging on to more contracts than the club could afford, keeping them away from the competition, and about getting his foot in the door with other clubs fans and sponsors.

The Championships and the clubs in it are vital to the development of the home nations , take away the Championship players from the Welsh/Scottish and Irish teams and you are left with basically amatuer teams with the odd aussie thrown in

no one said that all parts are important. Simply that they all arent of the same importance. The Amateur game provides almost all the players and SL provides almost all the money and visibility for the game. the lower leagues provide much much less of both

The reliance super league has on overseas players is a dereliction of duty imo. The lengths some clubs will go to to avoid their responsibility to young RL players in this country is nothing short of pathetic and you wont find me coming close to defending them for that.

You know there is no-one more in favour of forcing SL clubs to put more time effort and money into the young players of this country than me

Well, i'm sure the RFL will put something more in place to ensure that this happens. Can see them tweaking with the franchise criteria a little bit more in this regard.

Maybe if the RFL didn't make it almost impossible for non SL clubs to run junior and academy sides they would produce more SL and International players , maybe if the RFL stopped SL clubs from flouting Scholarship rules then the available talent would be shared round more evenly , maybe if the RFL introduced more stringent rules on the transfer of players from Championship to SL with more realistic payments to those clubs , more clubs would see the value of producing those players
