| There isn't an English coach good enough and most of the Aussies over here wouldn't get a main coaching job in Aus.
It most probably wont happen but I'd like to see us go for a big name Aussie coach of the stature of Sheens or Bennet .
As well as being England's coach he could be a sort of coaching supremo with a brief to oversee coaching and player development of the game in general, a sort of coacher of coaches.

Agree with that. I wouldn't let a British coach anywhere near coaching our team because they are simply not good enough. I'm sorry to see Smith go because he's been doing a good job bringing players through and several of those who have played this year have had real coming of age moments in this tournament e.g. Fox, Shenton, Tomkins, Eastmond. Even those who we know have the right stuff have been able to lift themselves to a level I haven't seen from them before e.g. Sinfield, Graham, Burgess, Ellis. Unfortunatley it wasn't for every game but it's encouraging.

| Hanley with Radlinski as his assistant. Paul Sculthorpe, and other high profile past players all involved in coaching roles.
Heard a strong rumour Radderz will be assistant whoever gets it, not sure about the Hanley rumour but he would be my choice.

i'm sure john kear keeps a closer eye on super league than edwards if that is what your basing your appointment on.
Kear would be a good choice, tactically sound and a modern day coach. Edwards is a good coach in a diiferent sport although he was a great player.
Don't want Noble as he won't bring on the younger players as has been proven, for example tomkins only got a chance at the expense of an overpaid aussie in smith and noble had no choice but to play him.

| Wayne Bennett would be my choice but it isn't going to happen. If we want an overseas coach then someone like Graham Murray or Daniel Anderson would be my choice. Both have a great ability to get players playing "above" themselves, and are very good technically too.
If we go for a British coach then Brian McDermott and John Kear are the only real SL candidates. It wouldn't suprise me to see Hanly get the job, but I wouldn't like to see it.

| Hanley? Are you high? The guy hasn't got a clue on how to produce effective attacking football (there is a world of difference in quality between Tony Smith and Hanley before any idiot tries to mug that part of my post) and his ego gets in the way of his judgement.

| I think they need to give up on the idea of getting a full time coach. What kind of coach wants to sac off their club career for a team that will play 5 matches next year, 2 of them meaningful, with a prospect of a third if they win one of the two meaningful ones.
Especially as the international game is seen as second prize to the club game worldwide.
No reasonable coach would want the job.

| I think Hanley will be in the frame, i'm fairly non-plussed about this. I think the clamour to get 'Ex Pro's' back involved sometimes is a tad overrated, that said, there's not too many candidates jumping out is there.
I've actually a funny feeling that Justin Morgan might find himself in the frame also, he's always come across quite an ambitous bloke, and I think if the opportunity found itself at his door, he'd take it.

Not sure.
Would he have to ?
He just comes across as somebody who's very driven. He's done alot in a short career, took opportunities when they've come along and has got a fair bit of experience in different cultures now, played in Australia, coached here, France, involved in the Wales setup etc.
It's just my opinion, if the opportunity presented itself, he'd be interested.

Agree with what you say, but a full-time coach would be dedicated solely to the national team or have I got that wrong?

I'm not sure what the crack is honestly.
You look at how Smith has juggled the last calendar year, it's certainly possible to combine roles. Morgan I guess, would just have to be keen to basically to go all year without a break, once the SL finished, he'd be off to Australia.
If nothing else, with the additional salary, he'd be able to get another couple of those 'cool' pinstripe suits.

Full time means does nothing else. That's what I understand the RFL want (but either won't get, or will get with a comedy coach)
