Are the NRL pulling out of the city? In camperdown, Annadale, Glebe I don't know anyone who have received mail about becoming a member, since the season started I haven't seen any adds about becoming a member on tv (in fact the only membership I have seen is warratahs flyers and a ing St Kilda tv ad trying to get nsw members to take them over 45,000).

The reason its only played in Australia is the fact that it has no appeal outside of Australia. rememeber it use to be called victoria rules before that, so with your logic that would make it a very victorian state sport wouldn't it.
you have the figures, you know that AFL has nowhere else to go now, its boxed it self in now. its TV ratings have peaked.
I predict that in 10 years time at the most there will be no professional AFL clubs in NSW or QLD.
In a country with a population of 22million, and its claims to be the No1 sport in that country, its not even the No1 sport watched on Aussie TV. take the figures you have for AFL to an accountant, TV deals, bankrolling clubs, etc, and say to him can this game continue like this for another 10 years?

Without getting into the debate Hudds. Is the No1 sport in a country not their national sport? eg. Baseball is the National Sport of the USA, but don't more people watch the NFL? So would Baseball or NFL be the No1 sport?

Is it the same sport you can watch on FTA tv in every city and not just 40%.

I have never been to a professional AFL or Union game, I have never watched a full game of AFL on tv (it's ), I haven't watched a full game of rugby union in two years because it now bores me as does soccer.

I'm a ticketed member at souths and try to get to as many rep games as possible, and finals.
I'm a registered player in the souths league.

So why the do I sound like I'm defending the Afl? A game I don't watch, play or care about?

We have people pretending to be in Sydney, people pretending to be in England, people pretending to be involved with RL, people pretending they play RL, people pretending they coach RL, people pretending to be other people, trolls calling other trolls 'trolls', foul and abusive language, poor spelling, people coming out with gems like "if AFL had a SL war it wouldnt recover" and not realising how ridiculous that really is, people pretending to have other people on ignore, people indulging in the sort of petty name calling I haven't heard since I was in year 7, people claiming to have visited Newcastle Knights leagues club, people claiming there are normal NRL matches drawing 60,000 people for a single game, people denying they have more than one username (despite their posts coming from the same IP address), people claiming that 18,000 is actually a greater number than 21,000, people claiming that the 'bomb' originated in NFL, people talking about 'Vichyball' 'Mungoball' 'Wendyball' 'GayFL' and virtually every other random subject you can think of. All in one thread. And yet this thread hasn't ended. It still rolls on. Growing all the time. After the apocalypse in December 2012 this thread will still be growing with more and more ridiculous ill founded, poorly thought out and ignorant comments. It's frightening.
