It's bloody crazy. I don't know what they're fannying around at. It's an unnecessary tackle in the first place. Ban it and punish it harshly. It's pretty simple.

Open season again, might as well risk taking out the best player of the opposing team hedging your bets that you won't even get sin-binned (especially if Hicks is in charge) and opposing team down an interchange (Edit to add interchange player). Then as you can rely on the disciplinary to hand out any subsequent meaningful ban it's basically saying you can cheat/play dirty to win a game and we won't punish you for it.

If we can get Washbrook to smash the fook out of Smith or Tomkins in the first 10-20 minutes on the 29th rendering them unable to play for the rest of the game then we can handle a one game ban no problem.

Handing out bans on the basis of the severity of the injury is a joke and completely illogical, intent as per the law trumps outcome, it's why attempted murder is much much more serious than manslaughter.

I bet Rangi Chase is thinking wish I could have signed for Wigan, "my banning time in the game could have been drastically reduced". Can't blame Wigan for trying it on with an RFL Disciplinary that has no protective welfare for players on the receiving end of foul play.

i cannot see the reasoning behind the decision to downgrade the ban. The description on the RFL site, was adamant that this was a a reckless challenge breaching certain rules. How can they go back on that decision?

Playing Tautai will probably do the Pies more harm than good for the semi-final, however it does not condone the incompetence of the review panel.

Apparently Tautai pointed the disciplinary to a Facebook post from Cuthbertson that Tautai liked, and that was enough to deem it not reckless

Your coach doesn't seem too happy.
Whilst I agree with him about players trying to influence the ref, Wigan have plenty of their own players who do just the same.
Tomkins is as bad as any and Wilkin ,for Saints, isn't too far behind.
But, the original ban of 2 games for that tackle, which could have put the player out for the season, is not exactly harsh.

It's time that ref's, being pressured by players over various decisions, started marching teams back 10 metres.
It would instantly stop the "football style" complaining from players.

Agreed Wrencat now you mention i cant recall the last time i saw that happen, it used to be a regular thing. The game is a complete joke at the moment. How this can be reduced i have no idea. RFL are not fit to run this sport only ruin it.

So the same guy who said this....“Some of the comments from Leeds after the game – and before the match review panel – massively influenced everything,” he told Wigan Today.

Came out with this a few years back.....at least McDermott was upset at a tackle that could've injured his player, the McGuire incident took place vs Catalans so Wane had no reason to talk about it and wouldn't have done if Leeds weren't facing Wigan that week.

He could get cited and won't have the mitigation he already missed half a game so could end up with a longer ban than curly locks

I'm absolutely sick to ing death with the players complaining to the officials. And it's not just the thick "what's that for?" when they've blatantly done something wrong, it's the "eff off you effing knob" as they jog past the ref back into the line that's constantly going on.

I don't think a single person outside of Wigan's fanbase has respect for that man. I even know a few Wiganers who don't like the bloke.
