| The players’ unions is trying to hold the game to ransom. Basically, they are saying that players will only be paid the money they are entitled to IF Toronto are allowed back in. It’s a terrible stance and one that they should be embarrassed to be taking.
It’s a devious bribe on Toronto’s part - let us in and we’ll pay the money we should have paid the players anyway. The players’ union should be pushing for those payments anyway as BoC, not getting on board and supporting the very organisation that has failed to pay their members.

Isn't that what unions do, use their influence to get the best they can for their members.

| I wonder if the players union have a view on elite players having to spend six hours on a budget airline (oversize blokes in undersize seats) and then to play a competitive match within two days having spent two nights in budget hostel style accommodation. Surely Super League athletes deserve better than this.
As far as I know TW has not gone into administration or been liquidated. How are they not legally liable for the players wages and outstanding debts to suppliers?
The manipulation of circumstances around payment of players and the demand for a Super League only return is unacceptable.
The TW model has been proved not to work. It would be an absolute disgrace they were to allowed back in any form at any level of UK RL

I thought they must have gone bust as they haven't honoured the contracts. The players union is there to provide the lawyers who can enforce the players contracts and get a court order for TWP to pay up. If TWP are still ongoing then fair enough Livolsi is saying he will wind TWP up if any such legal attempt to get the wages owed is made before the game decides on TWP.
Fair play to you and Snowie who indeed called this out as blackmail
No this NA crap doesn't work, even by Perez's own measures it failed 100%

The PROSPECTIVE new owner has made a pitch to Elsone/RFL/Owners of Super League clubs about conditions for his requirements to be able to step into the position of new owner of Toronto Wolfpack.
As such, he is NOT in a position to wind the club up.I have not seen any quotes....Perhaps you could oblige?
Blackmail involves a threat with menaces....Perhaps you could oblige?
The Players Union are doing what they should be doing...Working for the benefit of the players.

As far as the players union are concerned they want big money for their players. So do the players......
You would have thought players wouldn't go anywhere near Ottawa Aces after the TWP debacle but they are pouring over there
OK they take a chance that the big payouts will last, but in a game where your next game could be your last that's the risk many are happy to take.
Pop as many overseas phoney clubs in Superleague all paying massive money as you want and it's there for the players to go get.
Happy days for them, but in the long term the end of the game for us speccies who have a longer shelf life ......

Wrong.
The proposed new owners can buy the Club & respectfully accept whatever sanctions are forthcoming, they can then build from there. Their demands are holding the SL & RFL to ransom !

How is "let us in and the players will be paid" a bad thing?
At the moment there is no other avenue foreseeable of them getting paid unfortunately.
Just restart next year Covid permitting, as they would have done this year. It's the simplest decision.

I don't agree here as we do not know exactly where or why TWP may fit in in the future. Not that long ago Lenegan talked about a reducing TV deal, he looked forward to a "national" league, and even took a 2 leagues x10 English clubs format to a vote.
But times always chance and we now read (RL & LE Letters page and Editorial) that American media giant Comcast who own SKY Sports could be interested in screening a transatlantic league that could pay way more than the current SKY deal (double has been suggested). The alternative to that if that is what they want, is what exactly? Can we stick to the current clubs and current level of SKY money if Comcast/SKY are no longer interested?
The decision on TWP looked like it was going to be pretty much most clubs voting to eject them. Now we see big SL clubs thinking again and pondering on their future worth. That worth being a big Comcast deal. Now we see little SL clubs vehemently against it. Mr. Hudgell has already walked mid season, people were worryingly asking where Mr. Carter was, Mr. Davey is adamant he wants to see his days out in an English League, Salford have little say.
Perez ploughs on with Ottawa with his usual self confidence, New York aren't going away, Rimmer is all for TWP coming back, and Livolsi is acting like he holds all the cards. People can still get copies of league Express as it only came out Monday so don't call me just put your hand in your pocket and read it.
It [umay[/u well be Livolsi simply holds all the cards here............
Anyone got a better explanation let's hear it?

In my opinion I would be surprised if those making the decision will find any encouragement in a proposal that a range of male grooming products could bring untold wealth to UK RL.

They have probably made their minds up already and it will be just a case of working out how to present their decision to the media/ public.
I'll go for something along the lines of, "it's been a tremendously difficult decision. Having worked very hard to take the great game of RL to a new country and a new audience, we feel that we cannot simply walk away and leave unfinished business.
Toronto, suffered financial and other pressures like no other club and we therefore feel that having offered to make good the shortfall in wages, the new consortium fully deserves a chance to continue the outstanding work already done by their previous owners.
There will however be some changes...........................................

I feel that it will be the easiest decision for the RFL & SL yet have the biggest 'fall out' in terms of fan & club owner reaction. I fear that some owners will despair to such a degree that they walk away.

Sky Sports presenter Brian Carney feels that the Super League clubs have prejudged Toronto Wolfpack ahead of Friday’s board meeting on their future in the top flight. [i"I think the decision by the majority of clubs has already been made psychologically that they don’t want Toronto, I think their fate has already been sealed and I don’t think Toronto will be admitted".[/i
He's a bit closer to the action......
