Don't forget that both Saints and Widnes are playing at Widnes' ground next year so there are a lot of logistics to be considered alongside any premature promotion. If Wakefield are unable to participate in next year's competition games involving them should be treated as byes. Let's wait and see what happens first though with their situation. Well to an extent we are halfway there, the difference is that the ground when it eventually gets built will be owned by the Wakefield Sports Council and not by the council unlike FC. And you never know the RFL unlikely as it sounds might have us in line to take over a more successful club but less in stature than ourselves thus giving us a quick return to SL

brayton you are spot on. In the pre-franchise days I would have gladly donated a tenner to keep Wakey afloat but as a Cas fan doing that today would be like a turkey voting for Xmas.
I feel desperately sorry for Wakey, they are in no worse a position than Crusaders but the deck seems stacked against them. Imo its time to return to the days when what mattered was how good your team was at Rugby League.

You have misinterpreted what I have said.

By "this", I am referring to going possibly going bust. If, say back in September after the last game of the regular season, news broke of Wakefield only having a month to obtain £0.5m to survive, the RFL would have been able to put in place contingency plans should they be unable to continue in SL, relinquish their license, and have enough time to seek a replacement.


You need to start thinking about reading the post.
I never once mentioned anything about Wakefield's potential on-field performance this season in that quote.

You have done, and well done to you. Not sure what that proves, or again why you've brought FC into a conversation about Wakefield, but that's for you to justify not me. It's not exactly been an achievement to beat FC over the last few years to be fair, so I wouldn't be taking too much pride from that! (Even though in the last 5 years you've only beaten us 4 times out of 13 games). We've had a crap team for a few years.

I think slowly but surely it is dawning on people that franchises are NOT the panacea to all the games ills, in fact they could be one of the causes!

franchising is going to improve english RL greatly, sadly for some fans it will be with them kicking and screaming all the way

its the resistance to change and small minded and old fashioned attitudes thatve kept the game back

and these people STILL are allowed to run the game!!!

Wakey's problems cannot be put down to franchising.

It appears a bod wanting many hard pressed fans to put in £1K. It also appears this may be to pay old tax bills run up by the bod in previous years! The 'pay now or the club will go bust' approach is shocking.
