If leeds are playing this bad come august/september i would be worried but as its still february it doesnt really bother me!

Some numpty said Leeds win when it matters and somebody correctly pointed out except when they play Wigan

The current Leeds team has despatched Wigan out of the play offs enough times that you should be familiar with the idea. Going back to when they were a loser club doesn't really add much to the debate. The 2011 cup final is all you can cling to.

Thought the last time Wigan played Leeds in the play offs Wigan won.
Wigan then went on to win the Grand Final.
Leeds beat Wigan in the play offs two weeks prior to that game.
Since Leeds beat Wigan in that first play off game they have met five times and Leeds haven't won any!

Then its plain to everyone that none of the matches mattered to Leeds, as they only win when it matters. Simples!!

So the 2010 play-off didn't matter? Would Leeds have won if it did?

I'm pretty sure the 3 games between the two sides in 2011 mattered to the players, even if they didn't to you.

Your coach admitted after the game on saturday that it did matter. They were planning to win as preparation for the WCC as winning is a habit.

From memory, Leeds despatched us out of the play-offs in 2004, 2007 and 2008. We despatched Leeds out in 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2010. That is more times than Leeds have 'despatched' us.

I prefer to cling on to every final played between the 2 clubs.

In the context of winning 4 grand finals in 5 years, won 5 in 8, appeared in 6 in 8, games against Wigan are meaningless.
I couldnt care less if we never beat Wigan again, it wouldnt bother me if we didnt beat them for another 500 games never mind 5. Wigan win games, leeds win trophies, thats absolutely fine with me, i hope it carries on forever.

All games should matter to a top team like Leeds. Whether its humping 70 points past you on a lovely summer's evening, or turning over Saints for the umpteenth time at Old Trafford. It's just occasionally along the way in our 8 year run of SuperLeague excellence, one of the other teams gets a result!

When Wigan were a big club, not losing to Leeds in 5 games wasnt something anyone noticed. But being the 4th most successful team in the country for a decade seems to have lowered the ambition of some Wigan fans.

If you are bring in things from 8 seasons ago, can we bring in stuff from the last 30 seasons? It is classed as 'history' just the same as something from 8 seasons ago.

But if you think what Wigan achieved with a completely different squad, in a largely semi-pro game, 30 years ago is as relevant as what this leeds squad, of which the nucleus has stayed the same has achieved over the last 8 then crack on. But im not sure what you think your argument will gain now by harking back to an era long passed.

Wigan do have a successful history.
Leeds have a successful history and have archieved since 2004 more than I ever thought they would.

We lost on Saturday. The ref was crap but in no way effected the result Wigan deserved to win. I personally don't care how many times we knocked Wigan out or how many big games they have beaten us in. All a bit school yard.

Correct, it really bothers me when our fans bring out this 'Forever in our shadow' business. It's childish. Yes we have been very successful, but all that really matters is the present.

I'm not really wanting to enter a debate with you, but I'd say you can go back in history as far as if the same players were playing at the time. Moving back 30 years is a totally different era when many of the players where not born yet or below 5 years old.

Not that I really want to get involved with the subject, but isn't that simply, once again, changing the goalposts to suit your bias? And no different to a Wigan fan picking 2 or 30 years.

Not quite, the reason being I thought we were measuring 'recent' success. And by 'recent' i would say you can go as far back as when a majority of the players playing today were playing then. Going back 30 years is a period when none on the players today would have been playing, so is hardly 'recent' in a playing sense.

Saints have beaten us plenty of times too. We really do struggle.

The Leeds celebrations after the GF last year were severely muted by their failure to beat Wigan all year, or to have beaten any side above them until the play-offs. They also regularly curse the failure of Garry Schofield et al to win anything in the 80s and 90s.
