| It was all the more impressive considering the fact wigan had a 100 first teamers missing through injury, with gil dudson playing through the pain barrier with a broken neck.

| did wigan have players missing today? i thought i heard it somewhere..... astonishing win? no not at all, a very good hard fought ( albeit bordering on illegal) win against a very good team, wigan fans should rightly be proud of that win, but to make out that wigan beat leeds with a virtual academy squad was a bit OTT.
good game though, and a cracking bit of niggle

| How embarrassing was it to see the ref bring both captains over to warn them and then McIlorum first tackle swings one right into Peacock's head?
He had a good game defensively after that. It's just something that let's the lad down time and time again.

| Some brilliant posts on here tonight
as for the knock on, having now seen the replay on sky sports news knock on was the right call for me. Moon grabs at the ball it goes forward and makes contact with the wigan player... once that ball hits the Wigan player it is deemed a knock on, I can't see what the issue with that one is.

| McIlorum is a dirty f***, but he is from Leeds.
Wigan had so many players missing, our kids had to play a tough game to get anything from it and the tactics paid off.
Wane by plenty.

| Thought it was a good hard game of RL that boiled over slightly. Both teams were as bad with the niggle. I thought Mcguire completely lost all his composure. He penalty he was running in like a mad man on a about 3 occasions. The kick out on George Williams was very poor.

Whenever there's a thread like this, wigan fans are on it like flies on sh*t.
Incidentally, how many times will a dubious video reffing call in the last minutes deny leeds a win over wigan?
Theres was the mcguire 'drop goal grubber kick' in 2011, then obviously last year and this year.
I'm not saying those decisions were wrong (though the ref admitted as much after the 2011 incident) it's just biazare for a specific set of circumstances to keep recurring in such a small time frame.'"
Maybe we are due to be on the right side of a crucial one in a final?? Now THAT would be sweet!

| Whoever it was did the tackle in Ryan Hall should've been sent off. That was a lot more dangerous than the slap across the face from the Hull Fc player before. McIlorum is a dirty player, and anyone who says that is insulted by the wigan fans (fair enough they are defending their player) but everyone can see it. However, McGuire and Ryan Bailey. Bloody hell fire how did only bailey get sent to the sin bin and McGuire didn't, that was a joke, and once again Bailey proves how tough he is by going after the smaller players. In the end, it was a very entertaining game that rounded off a cracking day off Rugby league.

I take it that you are being ironic ?
Knocks the ball forward onto the Wigan player, re-gathers and grounds the ball.
Clearly NO try, the only question is why the VR took so long to decide.

It was only on the Super Zoom replays that it was clear it was a knock on. Initially Moon catches the ball and the ball is pushed against the Wigan player. That isn't a knock-on since Moon still has control of the ball. It's after that where the ball comes out of Moon's grasp and then hits the Wigan player (hits his hand IIRC) that it's a knock-on, the ball flies up into the air a little and then Moon catches it on his way down and grounds it.
A knock on, but certainly wasn't clear to start with. And I believe it's only recently that the VR has been able to use the Super Zoom capability, in previous years that would probably have been given even with the Video Ref reviewing it.

The niggle was great to watch all game and a real throw back to days gone by. It was noticeable how the players know they can't really throw punches anymore when it all gets heated. The 'fight' in the second half was more royal rumble then heavyweight boxing. In days gone by arms would have been swinging everywhere.

| They played exactly the same two weeks ago against us (Leeds)
Holding down at the PTB (which again wasn't penalised until 30 mins had gone)
Third man always smashing in to torso of the ball handler
Holding down with the forearm pressed into ball handlers face on multiple occasion.
and just 80 mins on niggling gamesmanship from them and expected no less from them yesterday.
Its obviously premeditated tactics, which I wouldn't be proud of if I was a wigan fan

| Rugby League isn't a difficult game. You run harder and tackle harder than your opposite Number and more often than not you come up on the winning side. Wigan play an aggressive Game right on the border (and sometimes over) of the rules, but I've no problem with that. I wish the Saints Pack played with half of the aggression that they do.

As opposed to other teams in super league that enjoy it when the opposition get in their faces, stifle the attack and wind them up with niggle.

Saying it's a difficult game does not mean anything.
Just go and watch the Cas v Leeds game last week to see a hard fought competitive game of RL without the need of gamesmanship and thuggery.
Yesterdays game has no place in modern RL. and was only allowed to happen due to the weakness of our referee's (doesn't make it right though)

| Gotta love Mcllorum, every player in the league would want him on their side.
The past two Wigan vs Leeds games Peacock has tried bullying the younger Wigan players but yesterday Mcllorum stood up to him and Peacock didn't like it and went into his shell.

I honestly can't see how a Leeds Fan can complain about Thuggery with Bailey in the side? Leeds fans have gloried in his antics for years.
