Regardless of what you believe to be true, Rupert Murdoch is the 3rd most important person on the planet with regard to Media. Simply put, he has enough money and clout to do pretty much as he wants. No amount of "regulations" will stop him if he wishes to buy 100% of the rights to the NRL........he will find a way of getting the required amount of games on FTA TV if he does this. I have no idea why you continue to try and deny that Murdoch will get it if he wants it......he has a plan that involves cornering the sports market on a global scale....NRL in Australia is a big piece of this plan.....No amount of combinations of Australian TV companies can compete if Murdoch decides he wants the NRL.......even if he has to pay the $1,000,000,000 you keep on banging on about. BTW...I have never denied that the NRL wouldn't get $1,000,000,000.......I just think that they will get slightly less.
Listen DiM.....I know you love the NRL......I know you read loads of stories and keep right up to date with all the news from all the clubs.....but Media is what I do.....and Rupert Murdoch....like it or not, is the biggest player involved in Australian TV....regardless of who thinks they know exactly what he owns and what he doesn't

Yes we get better ratings for the SL than the Premiership but at times Sky treat us like we are always playing second fiddle to union.

This is down the the RFL being run by and employing people from a certain area of the UK that enforces the media's belief that RL is a regional pastime. The RFL Media team needs to be rebuilt from top to toe with a new, hungry breed of employee who will badger the press, radio, TV etc until the game gets better coverage.


CORRECT......and this is not the result of some secret IRB agenda either......it is down purely to the "demographic" of the audiences for both codes....which is a big issue.
Twickenham sells out in minutes or a 6 nations game, with prices from 75 to 500 for a ticket...the RFL can't fill Leigh at 15 notes a ticket......and this is what makes SKY get a hard on for Union. The Landrover ads generate more cash than the hair replacement ones......it's simple commerce...nothing more, nothing less

australian politicians are very worried about conentration of ownership of the media, thats why theyve got these laws in place

forgot about the battle for online media thatll add more dollars for us. the nrl has got to do this slowly, theres a lot of money coming its way but its got to negotitate slowly and carefully.

weve got the TV rights in australia providing a big increase, then the online rights which telstra got too cheaply, the main nrl sponsor rights and the tv rights in nz

handled correctly well have more money than we know what to do with
