yes, suppose it is - TO beat them at the Halton and should have beaten them at home but ended up giving away the game in the last few minutes despite being the better team for most of the game imo
Fev & Eagles on the other hand looked the real deal and more capable of handling the step-up to SL judging them on the performances at TO that is.

nah,it's just nice to speculate in the off-season - when the Vikings are admitted into SL the team will have to be unrecognisable from what's available at present imo - what's the point of kicking out Wakey or Cas unless you replace it with something better ?

BSkyB should commission a TV reality show.....with an episode every week highlighting one team every week that have applied for a Franchise..interviews with fans, management, players, locals who aren't fans etc.....
In the last week, set up an 0906 number and let the public decide who's in and who's out (I'll have 20% of the revenue for the idea)...........water-cooler moments, facebook pages, twitters from celebrity fans......it's the new big brother.......

| Quote ="sanjunien"with respect, you don't need to be a brain surgeon to work out the six 'crap' clubs you are thinking of but I don't find it depressing in the least that the six possible clubs who would replace them would be any worse - I've seen all the Championship teams at To13 last season and ,given their budget/personal financial restrictions I feel the general level in the Championship is of a high standard, certainly more professional than say,of twenty years ago - things have progressed, coaching standards and fitness levels appear to be way higher than even ten years ago imo
I'm struggling to find a 'crap' Championship team to visit Toulouse last season (the previous season Donny & Thunder were the worst) and it would be difficult for me to give a top-six from that division.Toulouse and especially Perpignan are intimidating places to come to .
Don't be so negative littlerich - =#FF0000:1t5yp593given the resources in the lower division(s),the future looks very bright.:1t5yp593=#00BF00:1t5yp593The dual registration system for me was a great idea and long may it last.[/
No the future doesn't look bright at all , what exactly are these resources ?
As for the ' Duals ' while in theory it can be a good idea , it can also be quite disrupting to Championship clubs and some of their players , especially their juniors

'resources' = quality of talent floating around the lower divisions - certainly NOT financial resources
looking at the talent available the future is bright - now do you get it ?
the dual registration system has been good for the SL teams (more flexibility with budget etc),the Championship side which has been strenghtened and the fans who have been given the chance to see the young SL possibles in action and regular footy has to be good for the individual hasn't it ? rather than rotting away in the SL reserves

| Starbug I see your point but.. dont use them then?
Putting 3 or 4 top class juniors in these sides has improved the standard imo.
For example when I saw your side McCarthy didnt do much, which im suprised about but Mitchell, Emmit and Blythe contributed hugely. It is a little disruptive but if it isnt worth it simple: dont do it.

As for your club, if they cannot survive in the Championship then there is not much chance of them surviving in the Super League.
As for you lasting long enough, I recommend a gym membership and less bacon.

OMG.. do you reckon..
I mean I thought a squad limited to PT players and restricted by a £300k salary cap would go okay against FT opposition teams allowed to spend up to £1.6m!!!!!
Good job the team from the championship that is raised to SL will have nearly a full year to put that squad in place before their first competitive match and in our case, if we are fortunate enough, will probably get fairly close to spending to the cap.

Have to agree with this completely... the Dual Registered system is not a compulsory system. There is no obligation to take these lads on this way. The Championship clubs do it because they see that there is a benefit to them.
It was fairly disruptive to our side last year in the end but god knows where we would have ended up given our injury situation last year if we hadn't embraced it.

| Yep.. I'm guessing this expansive view is from a Halifax fan? Lets just go back to how it was before like 5/6 years ago when we have promotion and relegation, teams (still) going broke, floods of Aussies in SL to help avoid the dreaded drop, Leeds and St Helens winning SL evey year....the list goes on.
We are behind Australia and (in effect NZ because of their players being involved in the NRL) yet we have been for 40 years. How is getting rid of franchises and copying the Aussies/Yanks going to stop that? We're about 3 years into the franchise system...so how can you say it isn't working? More English players are getting their chance in teams than ever before.
It is the coaching and general nature of RL in England that is why we painfully get r*ped by the Aussies etc. Nothing to do with franchises.
I'm sure you'd be singing off a different hyme sheet if your team were in SL.
Such a blinkered view in general is what is wrong with rugby league and the RFL in this country.

So if you're in SL, your blinkered view is right basically? But all Championship fans' blinkered views are wrong? Interesting.
In theory, the only people who can have an opinion on the subject are Widnes fans because they're kinda in the Championship, but we all know they're kinda in the SL.
Off you go Widnes fans, the stage is yours

can't believe what i'm hearing ! RL is for US,the people - it benefits the SL clubs financially (hopefully ! but not always as we see every season) which then filters down to the rest of the lower leagues. It's symbiotic,ie it feeds on itself - it's impossible to have the SL and nowt else ! the Championship etc couldn't survive without the SL & vice versa
SL has been good for the game though failures have and always will occur usually due to mismanagement & over ambition of clubs in all the leagues

im not sure you can say anything is the most worthless, it is poor English, not something i would usually pick up but there is clearly a reason behind your use of it. You clearly wanted to state in the most pejorative way possible that the championships arent as important to the game as a whole as the amateur and fully professional game, to make it sound very extreme. Rather than just state that the championships dont provide the game with the players the amateur game does or the money and visibility SL does, because of course that sounds reasonable.
