| Quote ="Gaslight"=#8040FFBy 2013 there will be a new stadium in Cas, Wakefield, St Helens and Salford, so there's 4 venues, as well as the DW, Galpharm, LSV and KC. That's 8 stadiums, then Wembley or Old Trafford for the final.
Make tickets like £10/£5 and get it marketed heavily, give out flags etc in the stadium so it looks good on TV too.'"

| England v Aus if on should be at Wembley Sat 3pm ko as the opener
Use the RL grounds fit for purpose for smaller group games eg Leigh, Wire, Widnes
Elland rd is a must, the Leeds public deserve that one, England semi?

| I'd do an offer, buy an opening Wembley game ticket and get a game of your choice free. Buy a final ticket and get a semi ticket at 50% off.

| All super league grounds and a few carefully selected championship grounds should host some matches.
I think the final should be at Old Trafford, the majority of fans are in the north of England and that is where the game originated form, I dont see ant benefits to hosting the final in London. The most important thing is to have the whole tournament broadcast on the BBC. That will get plenty of people watching and coverage throughtout the media. Old Trafford will be a lot cheaper to rent than Wembely and significant better attendance if England dont reach the final. (It is vital the tournament makes a healthy profit remember 2000)

| I would play Frances group games all in france to get good crowds and increase the coverage in the country.
Play all Wales games in Wales, if they are in a group of 3 then 1 at Wrexham with the other in Cardiff.
Play Englands group games at DW and KC and get sell-outs at all costs.
Semi-finals at Elland road and Eastlands.
Final at Old trafford. If we could get 46,000 on for a game not including England then we could fill it if it did.
Other venues - Warrington, Leigh, Hull KR (if improvements are made), Widnes, Stoop.
Marketing needs to be better though, the NZ v Aus group game should be massive!

| Any games where Australia and NZ play each other should be played in London.
This should not be negotiable.
I doubt many Aussies or Kiwis live outside the M25 anyway. Why make us travel un necessarily?

yes making the most attractive neutral game the least accesible to most rugby league suporters is a great idea
one game in london is enough and an opener at Wembley needs to involve england

So you have contradicted yourself there really.
Wembley is in London...you want England to play there... thereby in your own words making it '[ithe least accesible to most rugby league suporters[/i

Why is recommending that any game where Australia and NZ play each other should be played in London (home to the vast majority of the Antipodean community) a 'weak' point?

| I would too like to see the new olympic stadium used for the opening match, thus leaving Wembley for the final. Allocate 30k tickets to be distributed free amongst the local schools with specific assembley's (if they still have them) showcasing Rugby League. This will leave 60k left for general sale to the public with sensible prices and packages.
Here the RFL could team up with the East Cost main line and other rail operators which could see seduced costs for travellers with a valid world cup final ticket.

Twickenham Stoop would be ideal.
Checks all the right boxes for the expat community in London (apart from the lack of VB)
Not many British fans would bother going unless England made the final.
Twickenham (the big place...HQ as its known) would never come close to selling out an RL final sadly'"

| Never take anything Barry says seriously. Pretty much every other post on this thread is common sense by the people that make the sport the greatest, the fans. If the RFL looked at these ideas instead of dreaming up ideas in an office, the RLWC would be brilliant in 2013.
So the general consensus is that the opening game would be at Wembley. Group games at stadia around England (and France/Wales?) with sellouts being the priority using good marketing and good value ticketing. Semis at Stadia such as Wigan/KC/Galpharm and The Final at a more ambitious venue such as Wembley/Millenium/Olympic/Old Trafford?
All sounds good to me!!!

| How many of the teams are already confirmed to play in the World Cup? I'm sure it's 13 of the 14 so that allows the RFL to start planning now. If the format was decided now and the draw was done say live on tv before the England v France game or the Four Nations it wouldn't be too long after before they could start selling tickets. Rugby League internationals are notorious for being slow sellers, but if we can't shift tickets and fill 25,000 capacity stadiums in just under three years we might aswell pack it in now.

| I think it is 14. Start selling tickets, merchendise etc now! Release all of the teams kits at once so people can start buying them and people get to recognise them. As much as I dispise the sport, Union international kits are so easy to recognise in the street. People buy into an icon when they buy the SA kit. Losers!

I understand and share your impatience, but you can't start selling merchandise and tickets before you've decided on the format or done the draw.

I'm almost certain that it's 12 of the 14 that are confirmed. They gave automatic places to the 10 from last time and then added Cook Islands and Wales.
The qualifying competition I believe has two groups (three nations per group IIRC) with one from each group qualifying. The original plan was for the qualifying competition to take place in 2012 (hence no 4 Nations, Euro Cup or Pacific Cup) and I don't believe that has changed.

' Wales, who are expected to host fixtures in the 2013 Cup, will join the 10 teams who competed in 2008, holders New Zealand, Australia, England, Papua New Guinea, France, Ireland, Scotland, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.
The other automatic place is likely to go to either [iCook Islands[/i, who lost in the final of the 2009 Pacific Cup to Papua New Guinea, or [iLebanon[/i, who narrowly missed out on qualification for 2008.
The RLIF announced in February that the competition would be expanded from 10 teams to 14, with two of the extra sides to come from qualifying tournaments which are likely to be the Pacific Cup and the European Cup.'
I'm not sure how they're going top use the European Cup as a qualifier when the four competing nations already have World Cup spots. Maybe they got mixed up with the European Shield in which case Lebanon aren't even takling part.
In the Pacific Cup only the Cook Islands aren't already going to the UK in 2013 so they could lose every game in the cup and still go through.
