didn't wakey have sky money withheld the first year they got into superleague?
one plus wakey has over hull kr is that they produce good british youngsters and are given the chance by kear

HKR's tenure in the NL's had a detrimental effect on their ability to produce SL quality junior players , something that will start to happen shortly

You missed Wilkin from =#FF0000HKR to Saints
So considering McNally hasn't proven himself yet we have 4 from how many and how long ?
Depending how long you want to go back we have Higham and Donlan from Leigh and also Blackwood from Leigh
But not many really is it , Non SL clubs just dont have the ' pull ' to get the best juniors , once in SL then clubs will improve

It wasn't that the sky money was witheld in our first year in SL, more like the rest of the clubs weren't prepared to restructure the distribution of funding to the clubs with the end result that Wakefield got nothing.
Added to that, there have been occasional handouts to other SL clubs in the region of £1m a time when the Hudds/Sheff & Hull/Gateshead mergers fell apart.
If anything, Wakefield's continued existence (as a club not just in SL) is more in spite of the efforts of the RFL etc rather than because of any help they've given.

Thing is though Derwent , the cumbrian clubs always seem to do better than their fellow NL/Championship clubs , partly this could be put down to not having a SL club locally nicking all the best local talent

| its not only hkr. most clubs in SL are only in existence because of benevolant chairmen, prepared to underwrite millions each season.
the entire competition is built on very poor foundations. where a few men ultimately underpin the sport. The RFL should monitor this in the same ay they do the salary cap.
in the current climate who knows when one or more of these sugar daddies will pull the plug

| dont fall into the rfl trap of thinking superleague will ever compete financially with the premier league. there will be no arab takeover of hull kr to save the day.
clubs spending vastly more than they are bringing in are all on borrowed time imo
(not singling hkr out. same applies to all rugby league clubs)

Oh I'm not, and I don't for one second ever think that they will.
I was just pointing out that it's not just a Rugby League problem, it's just the nature of how professional sports teams are run these days, rightly or wrongly.

Hull FC -PROFIT £185,000
Bradford - Loss £17,000
Warrington - Loss £212,000
Cas - Loss £369,000
Saints - Loss £449,000
Hull KR - Loss £478,000
Wigan - Loss £592,000
Salford - Loss £832,000
Huddersfield - Loss £1,377,000
Harlequins - Loss £1,819,000
Wakefield - Have not filed accounts and recently faced a winding up order, so it's unlikely theirs will be good. Same with Celtic.
most clubs making losses but it does seem strange to me that clubs in new stadiums can make such big losses

Why ? , the cost of playing in and paying rent to Stadium co's , along with the loss of income because they dont own the stadiums is not sustainable

I know he is. Fifteen years worth would be great but alas it's only eleven so far.
This money is contractual and comes directly from SKY and as far as I am aware is not RFL funding but a simple 14 way split between the 14 members of Superleague and never forms part of the RFL's finances.
Hence the SKY money belongs to the 14 members of SL whoever they are in any particular season - end of. Have Wakefield ever received and monies from RFL central funding? Possibly, as have most clubs in the form of loans and grants, however 15 millions worth

itll end up being 13 years before you finally get booted from SL. the money doesnt go directly to the clubs. its the RFLs and it has been wasted on wakey
wakey twice have promised to improve BV and failed.
very shortly after the franchise decisions were made, it was announced by council the ground in thornes park wasnt going ahead. im sure the timing was purely co-incidental.
so to sum up : falling crowds, a ground that is falling to bits and looks terrible on TV and is an embarrasment to the game and the RFL determined to grow the game.
conclusion : enjoy your final years in SL.
ill enjoy watching a game from a packed halton stadium instead of any game from BV.

Or to put an alternative slant on it, crowds that are significantly up over the last 7 seasons, a ground that is being replaced by one which is part of a development that seems secure to go ahead, the 1st team finishing 5th last year and an Academy Grand FInal win as part of more general progress in the field of junior & community development.
