| Slightly different level of contact to the one Hock made with Matt Thomason. Expect a warning from the MRP.

But any intentional contact with a ref is supposed to be serious even "placing an hand on the arm" of a referee to get his attention is citable

| If Hock had done it, there would be uproar, bit like Barton in football. Feel sorry for Hock, no hard feeling from his time at Salford, the RFL must show consistency and ban Gale, time will tell.

| Leeds second try in the left corner. Cas thought there'd been a knock-on at the ptb and made brief appeals to Thaler for the video ref. Thaler ignored, and as he positioned himself to award the try, Gale deliberately shouldered him aside, causing a short delay as Thaler frowned at Gale and re gathered himself to blow the whistle.
I've no skin in this game for either cas or Leeds. If anything, I was mildly supporting cas. But that looked clearly deliberate to me. Still, heard nothing more about it so he may get away with it.

Exactly as I saw it and was surprised that Thaler didn't take him to one side after the decision had been made. Thaler is the one ref that might act this way, had it been Silverwood or Child he would certainly have made more of it.
No way did Gale not see Thaler yet he just walked his line right through the ref as he was awarding the try, deliberate IMO.

The one with Thomason where he ran in to him? certainly
The other one where hock pulled his shoulder? Im not sure it was all that different.
Bailey on Silverwood?
It didn't look great from Gale, and considering the 1st Hock one and the Bailey one were 4 match bans, Gale will be lucky to not get a game or two. Though saying that its easy to hold high standards against the pantomime villains.

| Brent Webb did something very similar a few years ago and copped a ban. Hard to *prove* it was deliberate, but looked it to me.

| I think he owes a big apology and a big thank you to Thaler, who looked for a second like he would take action but resisted. Probably after speaking to Thaler and his take on events is why they haven't charged him.

| Luke Gale's a very naughty boy - should've been an 8 point try for his attempted kick on Penny when scoring in approx the 70th minute.

| its a strange one this, the Hock Thomason one against Hull, it happened in front of the Hull fans and none complained about it Thomasson made a joke about it the Media didn't report it. Then the following Tuesday when the match review panel had seen it it everyone had an opinion on it.

Bloody stupid by Gale. Clearly avoidable.
2 match ban for me. You've got to step on stuff like this.

| Deliberate? Maybe. Probably, even.
Excessive? Hardly.
Still a stupid thing to do, though. Put himself at risk of a ban.

| Given that Hock has been charged in the past for pulling the Ref's arm to talk I don't think the RFL should allow this to go unpunished.
Accidental offsite gets a punishment, accidental high tackles do too. There's far too much of this going on in the game and it should be stamped out, while we are at it, get 10 meters for arguing with the ref back in.

Not so sure. RL as a game is utterly dependent on all players, no matter how pumped up or angry, absolutely respecting the referee's right to make the decisions without fear. You might think he's a blind/biased/incompetent git, and you can swear about him to your mates behind the sticks or in the dressing room, but you cannot ever threaten him verbally or physically. Cross that line and the game is done for. It's bad enough having soccer players running in to surround and try to physically intimidate their refs, but in RL, with our hyper-aggressive blokes who are paid to bash each other ? Very, very dangerous. That's why Graham's ban in Oz is quite right, and why Hock's bans were correct too.
I thought Gale should have been given a ban for that, even if Thaler was willing to pretend he thought it wasn't deliberate (it clearly was - I'm a lot less agile than Gale, but I could have avoided walking into Thaler in the same position). Certainly if an amateur player deliberately walked into me like that in a game, I'd send him straight off. Otherwise, you really are inviting much worse to come.

| Hard to see that as anything other than deliberate - made worse by a bit of amateur lip-reading; he clearly shoulders Thaler out of the way like a surly teenager, and swears while he's doing it.
He's lucky no to be cited - Mr Child would have had him before the beak in a flash.

Is there really far too much of this going on? I think it's very rare as is actual arguing with the ref.
There are times when I've thought the refs should be stronger but those moments are few and far between. The games on TV show what the players are actually saying to the ref and the vast majority of the time it appears perfectly respectful.
