can i ask why you think the UKBA give a crap about internal RFL policy? the fact the rfl allowed fewer players to be registered this way is irrellevant and an attempt by you to muddy the waters

At the time that the rules changed there were 13 clubs with players on these visas. The UKBA agreed that those players could see out their contracts before returning home. As reported in this week's League Express, all except one of those players has left the country at the end of their contract.

The difference being that those clubs contracted those players prior to the rules changing. Celtic contracted them after the change.

Wigan did a deal with Heinz.

Err no it's not. Derwent refers to employment contracts. You've insisted, if not here then on the Crusaders board thread, that the players at the other 13 clubs were all amateur.

I think people are confusing two different issues.

Firstly there were the contracted players as referred to earlier who were given special dispensation by UKBA to play out their contracts.

However, Gateshead challenged the UKBA arguing that some of their players were genuinely amateur and not receiving payment for playing. This was when they were struggling and changing their team every other week and did have some 'backpackers' turning out for them sometimes. They won their case and were allowed to play genuine amateurs who were here on holiday visas so long as those people did not have contracts or were receiving payments of any description.

If that is the case why did I post this earlier




I did not in any way suggest that any club was not paying these players apart from Gateshead who in the quote by Craig Spence stated as such

Celtic used those visa's to sign 6 players after 2005 supposed as amatuers but subsequently found not to be amatuers , how simple is that

The statement by Craig Spence is an attempt to muddy the waters and prevent a proper inquiry into the affair as it requires the clubs and the non executive directors of the RFL to demand an enquiry

In my opinion it is being done to prevent the people at the RFL who knew about this from being blamed

That stand (which has served a great purpose and is usually actually praised by away fans e.g. for having a fairly good view considering it's behind the posts), is ours for as long as we need it AFAIK.



Dispensation on one player, who (although progressing well) has only being used sparingly. The certain other club (

), on the other hand, have had everything thrown at them by the RFL, could field as many imports as they wished for years, and yet despite all the (alleged) success, have actually seen their crowds go [idown[/i since the start of SL.
